Jan Werner: Christmas album released

A Christmas album with unreleased material of Jan Werner Danielsen, Norway’s representative in the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest, who died on 29 September 2006, was released by the Salvation Army. The album has reached double platinum in pre-sale, the only album doing this in Norway this year.

In 1994 Jan Werner Danielsen together with Elisabeth Andreassen represented Norway at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song Duett, a powerful ballad which achieved the 6th place with 76 points. Unexpectedly Jan Werner died last year at the early age of 30 of heart failure.

His 2006 album Stronger, released after his death went straight to #1 in the Norwegian charts. Now a Christmas album, entitled Eg veit i himmelrik ei borg, with unreleased material of Jan Werner’s live Christmas concerts, was released by the Salvation Army, a charity and social services organisation, of the Christian Church. The album has pre-sold 65000 copies becoming double platinum.  Even after his death Jan Werner remains one of the highest-selling recording artists in his country.

It is a very good album. No wonder it does so well!

Went to #2 in the albums sales chart this week.
