First elimination in UMK

12 acts qualify in Finland, 3 more battle for one wild card

The Finnish selection process for the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest. UMK, Uuden musiikin kilpailu (The contest for new music) has revealed tonight the 12 artists going further , as well as the three fighting for the last audience wild card.

The following acts were revealed tonight as the choices of the professional jury, and they go on to following week:

Aili - Mun taivas
Aura Pineda - Kunpa vois
Freeman & Uusi Fantasia - Noitanainen
Iconcrash - We are the night
Jari & Taika  - Aamuyön salaisuus
Kaisa Vala - Habits of human beings
Kirahvi nimeltä Tuike - Sinisulkien viimeinen
Leola - Rytmit rikkoutuu
Mica Ikonen  - Antaa mennä
Pernilla Karlsson - När jag blundar
Stig - Laululeija
Ville Eetvartti – Lasikaupunki

These 12 have been produced into radio versions and will also be released on the first UMK compilation CD, out next week. The 12 new mixes will also played on YLE Radio Suomi on Sunday, 29 January 15:05 CET (16:05 local time). YLE radio stations are streamed here, and available worldwide

The three demos getting a further chance for an audience wild card are:

Jessica Wolff - Better
Martina - Checkmate
The Spyro - Teleport my heart

There will be a televote (only in Finland) until 12:00 noon on Thursday and the winner will be fast-tracked to the live club gig.

This first show was mostly showing how the jury worked until now. From next week the 12 finalists will be facing the judges and singing live in the studio.

dimitris "An unexpected list of finalists!" That's mildly put. This UMK is pure catastrophe! Whole jury full of amateurs, who have not a clue of music!

What strange choices, yes (not surprising ones though, as the list had already leaked ;)). Can't help but wonder at the motives of this so-called jury...? Well, one can only hope a good wildcard will be chosen, and that a tolerable song will be sent to Baku (not easy with this lot, I must say) :)

An unexpected list of finalists!I will listen to them some more.Ville Eetvartti,Leola&Pernilla Karlsson are great.The 3 demos going for the audience wildcard are lame!Martina and Jessica and not DCX or Raita Llomaki?

I'm missing the best of the top 40 songs here, "Erase you" by DCX. Stupid jury.
