FYR Macedonia: Gjoko Taneski wins second prize in Ohrid Fest 2010

This year's representative of FYR Macedonia at the Eurovision Song Contest, Gjoko Taneski, has won the second prize at the popular Ohrid Fest 2010. Other artists from the national finals were also awarded at this festival.

Ohrid Fest is an annual music festival that takes place in Ohrid in FYR Macedonia. The festival is spread over 4 nights with songs from one of the following genres competing each night: folk, newcomers, pop and international music. In the last years Ohrid Fest has become a huge event in the area. MKTV and several Balkan countries broadcast this regional event. The winners of the festival are awarded with a monetary prize as well as promotional products from the sponsors.

The 17th edition of Ohrid Fest took place on 25, 26, 27 and 28th of August 2010. 25 artists from different Balkan countries performed in the last night - international music. Amongst them, Gjoko Taneski who represented FYR Macedonia at Eurovision Song Contest 2010. He won the second prize with his song Ke napravam magija. Nada Talevska (FYR Macedonia) won the first prize and the third place went to Petar Dragojeviq (Croatia).

The award for best performance went to the Albanian singer Besa Kokedhima (Festivali i Këngës 2008) with her song Versus.Eurofans may remember Besa from her participation in FiK 2008 where she reached the final with Ajer


A few other singers that already took part in their national finals of their country, competed in this festival, singers like Biba Dodeva (NF FYR Macedonia 2007) and Betty Boop (Beovizija 2007, 2008)

Amazing voice (Best voice in this years competition IMO, very sexy) good song. Deffo deserved a place in the finals.

Performance wasn't so great, the sexy dancersseemed wrong.

gjoko taneski is a serious and professional musician. eurovision only wasn't the right thing for him I guess. I like his songs.

why all that years FYRO Macedonia didnt give us interesting songs ? I thing is the only countrey who since 1995 send average to aufull songs !! Only 2004 song have something interesting .

I really liked his ESC entry. Much better than the similar Bosnia&H. I believe FYRM failed mostly from the performance (I didn't understand the point of the girls), and Gjoko is not too photogenic himself. He needed a stylist at lease. With this stage presentation he had, the song needed to be in English. Otherwise a normal band set-up would have worked better.
