Rybak's Fairytale most downloaded Eurovision winner
The Nokia Ovi Eurovision winner chart of the last decade features a nice mix of older as well as more recent winning songs the oldest one being the 1967 winner, Puppet on a string by Sandie Shaw. Only 50% of the entries actually come from the last decade, among them the Finnish, Russian, Greek, Ukrainian and Danish winners. The chart leads Alexander Rybak and his Fairytale.

Not my favorite winner BUT with those fugures (selling, downloading, votes during Eurovision) he very very very deserved winner.....
His success in undoubtable, like it or not.
In youtube there are some videos with Fairytale.
The first one has 22919653 views, the second has 17360810, the third 6744064, the fourth 6130730 and the fifth 2106162. A total of about 55 million views and that's only the 5 most viewed ones. "Fairytale" was a major hit.

Thank you for recognizing True folklore when you see it!
Both A.R.s melody and Frikar´s (the dancers) choreography where based on several 100s years old NORWEGIAN folkmusic and dance-tradition.
I always liked Alexander - Congratulations from Germany!
Congrats to Alexander Rybak
!
He claimed a deserved win and now turns out to enter the hall of fame of esc winners after all..many things have been said by people who just can't accept the fact that even if it does not suit their all mighty taste which should be a global point of musical reference it is widely popular..same with Lena...well whatever..I pity them for being such feeble creatures..
Plus I am highly surprised by Olsen Brothers being featured on this list..they well deserve it..!
Same for Lordi...I really hate it but I have the dignity to accept that a band from a country with zero esc success and without diaspora and big neighbouring televoting support swept off competition !
Russia and Ukraine enjoy the success the ex soviets offer..nothing more..
All the best to Alexander Rybak
!
(and let the lurking trolls burst out of jealousy..)
alexander rybak's victory was deserved because he gained most votes. "corruption" (in any way) ain't proven so far and seems to be very implausible.
one shouldn't take some useless media-hypes too serious. this year they went insane for a spoilt 18-year-old-girl, that pretended to be impaired by her motor skills, and singig a self-invented english dialect completely out of tune. so in 2009 it was a muging "gnome"'s turn, mixing fake russian folklore with violines and representing norway.
who care? they will be forgotten sooner than they appeared, only qualitative music prevails in the long-term. in about twenty years we all are going to watch a retro-show in television and laugh about the trash some went crazy for these days.

Go to hannamontana.com or jump off your balcony. Your stupidites of ecs-add teen are neglectable, as ever.
@mario
why do you deceive urself? alexander rybak had a well deserved victory and now your comment below is written under a topic which is about one of rybaks success - also well deserved ! now go and smash your hollow and little with cobwebs encased head to a wall !!
I don't believe it. Another case like Gracia Baur.
In a not far future, "Fairytale" and Rybak will mean for ESC the same that Marion Jones means to athletics.
@ Tohoshinki
How to spell boring? Easy it's: F - O - O - T - B - A - L - L
@ Eirikur Baglasson
Okey? Feeling childish in return..
Iceland vs. Norway 1-2, just saying (+ your cheating prior the game of course by spying our closed trainings, low life.)
Of course "fairytale" can't sell more than 5 million, since most people nowadays download songs illegally! An artist can't sell anymore that much with the same ease artists could more than 10 years ago. Still this doesn't mean it's not the most successful esc winner of the late years, because it is!
Feeling just a little childish now, but ok:

K - I - S - S - I - N - G
Satellite more popular than Fairytale? Ok, don't make me laugh. Then why couldn't Lena just get 400 pts to prove that.
Also, when it comes to sales - Lena has fricking Germany behind her, Europe's 2nd largest music industry, whilst Alexander is only backed up with little Norway. Judging from sales, Lena only needs Germans to make her more successful than Alexander.
Why is it so hard to accept, for some people, that Fairytale was immensely popular all over Europe? And why this comparing with this years winner? I don´t know how many copies Satelite have sold in the Eastern Europe, but i do know that Alexander Rybak won the best newcommer-award in the Russian equalent to the Grammys/Brit Awards. And that he recorded and released a Russian version of Fairytale...
I do believe this would have "some" impact on the sale figures.
Awwwww Malta 2010 JESC is so nice!

Suprised that ABBA was the second most downloaded Eurovision entry.
It would be nice to see the actual sales.
After Alexander Rybak won in 2009, Esctoday reported that Fairytale would sell as many copies as Brotherhood of Man's Save Your kisses For Me. It didn't happen.
I'd be surprised if Fairytale actually sold over one million copies.
Save Your Kisses For Me sold five million copies worldwide and is still the biggest selling Eurovision song of all time in the UK.
Where is Lena? She's much more suceful than Alexander, i think.
I think the pole was made befopre final this year was
because lena bought much more then alexander
Next year Lena is the top
she had the most downloaded song ever
hardly suprising really - downloads only became popular very recently - and so recent songs are more likely to be downlaoded that ones people have heard many time and already own
Hold me now was the winner in 1987 not 1980.
