Tonight: Semi final in Germany

Tonight, the semi final of Unser Star für Oslo, the German performer selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 will be held. Four acts will compete and two of them will qualify for the national final.

The show

The show to be broadcast on Pro 7 will start at 20:15 CET and it will be hosted by Sabine Heinrich and Matthias Opdenhövel in Cologne. Four acts will perform two songs each - either cover versions of (more or less) famous songs or own compositions and the top two in the televoting will qualify for the national final. Head judge Stefan Raab will be joined by two guests: TV presenter and singer Barbara Schöneberger and singer Jan Delay.

How to watch?

There will be no official webcast, but all performances will appear on the official website shortly after the show. A full live report will be provided here on esctoday.com.

Pro 7 is available on satellite. You can find detailed information on how to receive the channel here.

This is not the running order. The songs that the singers are going to perform have yet to be announced.

  1. Jennifer Braun
  2. Christian Durstewitz
  3. Lena Meyer-Landrut

Mina
I really don't... for the last 2 years, the favourites in X factor, dropped out at this stage, I just hope Germany is different... Plus it's the first time I put her pic in my profile :D :D So it could end... Plus all the final 4 are so different, like they are typical boring average singers with voices like Yohanna or Jade etc. So it's like awesome :D :D I'm happy with any of the final for singers, but Lena stands out by a clear mile :D and is the only singer who I have loved every single performance of :D

Yeah, every single WEEK!!! GOSH! :D :D :D That never happened when I watched Idol and Operation triumph here! :D :D :D

OK I go for Christian and Lena, they must win! :P

mak ut,
that's my favourite performance by Kerstin, her voice in Somedays gives me goosebumps. Magical! I don't know why she's not higher in bests. I think everyone is just paying attention to Lena because she comes across as 'different' and overlooks Kerstin..and yet the sensitivity in her voice, I've never heard in Lena's.

Mark,
don't make me angry, you know Lena will be in the final...grrrrrr :P

LENA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (L) (L) (L) :D :D :D I really don't think she'll make it tonight :( :( But she is just so fantastic :D :D Certainly one of the best talents, and probably thee best new talent in ESC for a while !! :D I just really hope she makes it to the final !! :D The others are really good too, with their own individual style, and all the styles are great, at least for me :D :D I can't wait !! :D :D However I'm still unsure what to do on friday, I'm very close of just forgetting that the UK even exists :D :D

It wouldn't surprise me if the BBC don't webcast the UK NF, they can be mean like that.
Most other countries do, we in the UK should be able to return ther compliment.
The BBC will no doubt give copyright as an excuse!

I do care, Neil. My computer has just informed me that it is scheduling a strike for next Friday. Is there any other country planning another NF for March 12th? Hope not.

The UK NF is on Friday as well! (but maybe no one cares)

Shevek

On Friday, the two finalists will sing the songs running for ESC. Unfortunately, there will be a clash with the strong NFs in Greece and Estonia ...

I don't have a favourite yet. At first liked Kerstin and Christian the best, but last Friday Lena and Jennifer were great as well imo.

Ben,

Thanks for that, that means Germanany needs to channel hop between rounds how odd.

Every other result than Lena & Christian to the final would be a big surprise.

I still want Christian to win, at least he can sing different songs....

It's time to pay attention to USFO. I have been listening to the four reamining candidates and there is one whose voice I prefer over everyone else's: Kerstin Freking. When will they sing the songs running for ESC 10? Thanks. :)

Mina X

Universal has invited songwriters to write songs for the ESC of any style. The three songs will be chosen when it's clear who the two candidates in the final will be. If S. Raab wrote songs for the ESC this year isn't known. But I guess he prefers Lena or Christian as the singer for Oslo and an uptempo Pop song (that's my impression when I listened to him during the qualification shows).

Betting odds (to win):

Lena Meyer-Landrut 1.45
Christian Durstewitz 5.2
Kerstin Freking 11
Jennifer Braun 13.5

Mina,

as far as I know, the songs Raab wrote for and together with Max Mutzke were the latest to be released.

Ben H. [27060]
Tue 9 Mar 2010 15:21:54

Neil,

that is because the show tonight is broadcasted via the private broadcaster Pro7, whreas the show last and next friday was/will be provided by ARd, a public TV channel.

Mina X [59957]
Tue 9 Mar 2010 15:16:39

Axel,
what's the latest music Raab has written? What style?

Axel Kearns [47152]
Tue 9 Mar 2010 15:09:46

If Raab gives Kerstin a strong song like the second one she performed last week.... Germany wins in Oslo... she is not only an extremely good singer but also a strong performer... just as important and very pleasant to look at.....
