esctoday.com national final awards 2010

The 2010 esctoday.com National Final Awards will be held between April and May, which means between the national final season and the Eurovision Song Contest. We will repeat the same format with two rounds for nominations which was used this year - you can read how it works here. However, this time the individual polls for each country will always be held right after the national final, when the entries are still fresh. You can vote for your favourite performance not to qualify in the Portuguese national final here and for your favourite song not to qualify here.

In 2009, Portugal was represented by Flor-de-Lis, who finished eighth in the first semi final and 15th in the final with their song Todas as ruas do amor. In 2010, the country will compete in the first semi final of the Eurovision Song Contest on 25th May.

We will see... it could be a good surprise!

Well anyway Portugal could've had neighbours coming out of their ears, this shit song would still not even go past the first semi-final!!

I don't agree... always needs! look at Norway, always vote on Finland, Sweden, Denmark and so on....

A country doesn't need neighbours to win the contest, its all a myth. Look at Ireland, Iceland, Norway...um, look on a map, these countries have almost no neighbours..but they send winning songs that would be able to be played on pop radio.

It's so good to hearing good things about Filipa! It's time to people being conscient about the good song Há dias assim.
I know that is dificult to accept when we have a participant like Catarina... she did it very very well! and this year, Festival da Canção has another good songs! was a good year

Pablo Ortiz

I second everything you said. Only a clear mind to put some sense to this childish and inconsequential blindness.

It´s true you´re not tired even after hearing it over 20 times :)
Even so i hope for some hard work in everything about this song: starting with the support of all of us: Filipa is representing Portugal!!! She makes me proud :)

Paulo Carreira

The bashing is almost only directed to Filipa, and only done by a small group of upset Portuguese, i´m sorry to disagree.
It´s time to move on and support her and the country.
I hope you reconsider your position in time :)
Abraços.

Nilton de Caires ,

if you really think Catarina had a chance to win Eurovision Contest, you need to learn something about how this contest works. I'm not a huge fan of eurovision but i enjoy watching the final part when we know how many points the songs will get. And you can see Clearly that it's not about the song, it's all about the neighbours! Catarina would never had won with her song... Filipa will never win also! Portugal need something REALLY Special to make people vote for it, not these cheap up-tempo songs.

Isso é sempre a mania dos portugueses, erguer os ombros e fazer nada..

I'am referring to Iceland ballad of 2009. But all we know that Catarina didn't win... :( We must look to the future! and we have only Filipa to represent Portugal! unfortunaltely, Catarina was 2nd! was also my 1st place! but what we can do???? nothing...

Nilton de Caires [61180]

Iceland's entry is not a ballad??

Nilton de Caires [61180]

@ Pablo Ortiz:

Catarina's song was original, it was unlike any other song I had ever heard before. It had elements of the Portuguese guitar in it, it had a good beat, and a melody that was catchy and rememberable. What makes a hit a GOOD HIT? Something that people enjoy listening to and can remember. People are arguing that Catarina's song was all this, and ORIGINAL aswell, whereas Filipa's song is so dull. What's the poing of entering a contest if you just enter just to represent, and not win???

There are many songs that are to "the old age" and at the same time are beautiful. Catarina's Song in despite of being a good choice to eurovision, it simes like other entries ( Greece, turk, spain...), was a "dejá vu"... The entry of Isceland 2009, achieve de 2nd place, and we can say that is an "old song"... what iceland brings of new???? nothing... only a good ballad... like our ballad.

Nilton de Caires [61180]

The only way this crap, boring song will win in Eurovision is if the show in Oslo is transmitted to old age homes. In portuguese we say "Pãozinho sem sal" which literally translates into little bread with no salt, meaning the song is so boring, there is no oomph and nothing that makes people go wow this is something different. This song would fit well on the B-side of a 1993 Disney animated movie.

Nice comment! in did it's a beautiful song... it's a pitty that people in general don't understand it... :(

@ Pablo Ortiz
" i'm not a fan of eurovision contest, but i think it's better to send something beautiful and original and still finish last with 0 points."
The song is beautiful but there is nothing ORIGINAL about it, this "recepie" has been seen many times at the ESC... And because "Portugal" thinks that way the best place ever achived was 6th in 40 some years....

Pablo Ortiz [57838]
Wed 10 Mar 2010 14:23:02

In my opinion, this is a very beautiful song. If you listen to this 20 times you never get tired, but you can't listen Catarina's song more than twice... i think it's enough to explain why it won. I'm Portuguese, i'm not a fan of eurovision contest, but i think it's better to send something beautiful and original and still finish last with 0 points. At least we show some good taste and we don't need to send it to get a few more votes.

I hope to be wrong but I don't think that Portugal will get it this year although the song is quite good. My best wishes for you all in Portugal ;-)

Wed 10 Mar 2010 10:16:18

yes, ok.... but if we analise, all portuguese ballads didn't achieve a good place.... ufortunately! Silêncio e Tanta Gente, Penso em ti eu sei, Deixa-me sonhar, Chamar a música and so on.... it's time to listen portuguese ballads! In my view , the Alvaroda is beautiful, and perhaps it would it well in eurovision! more than Há dias assim.... but we can do ? nothing....
Há dias assim its the one that will represent Portugal! and as a ballad its beautiful! for me, as ballad as all that is necessary to achieve top 10...

I really don't think that is a bad song. The issue here is that when you compare it to the last 2 previous Portuguese songs in Eurovision, this one doesn't get any higher. Senhora do Mar and Todas as ruas do Amor where fantastic and superb songs, this one is just another average eurovision ballad but is not a bad and nevertheless boring song. Is just Ok! Of Course not expecting this one to be the winner at all.

Hello everybody!
1st I would like to thank of all fans that agree to aceept that a decision, is a decision! Both: jury+televote= Filipa Azevedo.
If didn't exist Catarina's song, probably all of you like Filipa's song... We must look at the future! and the future is ESC in May! Filipa deserve to be help to achieve a good mark!
Fans of all countries, I will ask you to listen again Filipa's song! its very nice... pleasant... it seems to be Chamar a música! it is a nice ballad , with a good lyrics!

Paulo Carreira [46245]
Wed 10 Mar 2010 03:57:05

@ Daniel Goulart
if you look carefuly you may see many people bashing the jury not Filipa... on the contrary there are a lot more Filipas fans bashing Catarina... And yes Filipa was only the 4th fourth choice of the public there for, many people didn't like the song from the get go... not because she won... But the ESC results will tell who was right, the public or the jury... we'll never know if Catarina would have done better or not...

They are still blinded over Catarina´s lost... go figure!

They are bashing Filipa all over the net: what a waste of time!
I´m so embarassed by their lame attitude.
