Niamh Kavanagh is an easy winner!
@ Zanic
I don t think on promotional tour , I think UK didn t have it last year, but media propaganda in world about Andrew Loyd Webber & Diana Waren song , free CD of song in russian version of famous magazine....
I want Monika to win, but she won't, it will be Niamh =(
I've just listened to "It's for You" on Youtube. I'm very impressed and I believe Ireland would stand a good chance of victory if they send Niamh.
ooooh. Monika Ivkic?! She bacamed 4th at the german version of popidol. I think the big favorite (Niam) will NOT win. Because Ireland always made a bad choice. So I think Monica could win...
pera bg
Alexander Ryback had no promotional tour he came 1st
Yohanna had no promotional tour she came 2nd
Urban Symphony had no promotional tour they came 6th
Patricia Kaas had no promotional tour and she came 8th
--
BUT
I will admit promotional tours might have helped HADISE, Aysel and Arash also Jade. But other's in that year with large promotional tours include;
Kejsi Tola - Came 17th place
Waldo's People- Came last place
Soraya- Came 23rd place
Elena- Came 19th place
..
So promotional tours is no way to have sucess, The Truth is a good song will score well. and bland songs will score poorly. Its the way ESC has always been.
Ralph Siegel
It's for you and nothing less for ireland.
period.
"If Ireland choose NImh and Sweden choose Anna"
Yeah, but that happen. I say it's between "Kom" & "Keep On Walking", possibly Darin.
"It's For You" must win tonight, it's one of only two decent songs in this selection, and I'm 100% it would qualify
Niamh for ireland... for sure!! no question about it
Niamh will finish like Patricia Kass last year, or maybe worst like Chiara last year in final. RTE didn have money to promote song like UK last year .
Ireland, Niamh can bring victory to DUBLIN, so vote vote vote as much as you possibly can for your golden girl NIAMH
Hm,hm! Ppl are not impressed by Niamh!
What does it mean? Monika Ivkić FTW!!
Balkan rocks!
No songs are any ground breaking material, Song 4 and 5 are clearly my favourites, so I hope either wins. I just hope Niamh's live vocals still remain strong, I think she could easily win, however this year is very big grand ballad like, so she could fall there. Monika is a lot different, but maybe a bit too American for ESC, I don't know
I hope their performances are good, but all the songs seem pretty darn average to me atm.
Firstly, I think Niamh will probably win the Eurosong.
Secondly, I don't know why people are saying that there are too many ballads this year, as I only counted about 3 or 4.
(That shows how much people on this site know about music!)
And thirdly, so what if she is entering it again. Sweden, Greece, and Russia sent the same people again. So why can't Ireland?!?!?!
Puh, although I'm not a fan of the idea seeing a country represented by a complete foreigner, I have to say that Monika Ivkic has the best song... It's at least the freshest one, the other ones are so dated that one could think Ireland fell asleep after Eimear Quinn and never woke up till today...
Concerning Niamh: I'm often the one who goes for the ballads but I have never found anything in "In Your Eyes" and this one is even - hm - more boring...
I am really disappointed with Irish selection this year (and me part Irish!), I was so expecting something fresh and original but the best to hope for is Niamh with that very unoriginal ballad (more 97 than 2010), well compared to the rest at least it might stand a chance of getting through the semi, I will try to watch anyway tonight just to see if any of them songs come across better live but don't hold out much hope...oh Ireland , my lovely Ireland! my grandfather would be turning in his grave!!
Niamh would gather points at Eurovision (more so that the other 4) regardless of Norway's entry, it's a good song, she will perform it really well and it stands out more than the ballads picked so far (Malta for one I could mention). Norway will do reasonably well as the host country generally does but I think Didrick may let it down slightly with his vocal. As for Sweden's entry, I dont think there will be a worry with a similar song because I think Kom by Timoteij will MF; its so catchy and stands out amongst the other songs in the final so far.
Niamh Kavanagh to oslo....for sure.
Well from these 5 songs I would much rather have "Et cetera" back again which is my favourite Irish song of the 00's
But 2010 is such an average year, actualy under average so Niamh since her ballad is better than any of the other ballads in the ESC 2010 so far she would go straight into my top 5
(above Didrik from Norway, as his song is very boring and only becomes good at the end, also his voice is nothing compared to Niamh's and anyone who even thinks Didrik is a better singer just needs to work out their vocal ranges. Didrik has a 2 octave vocal range where Niamh has 3 so she can reach more powerfull notes with ease
But if Niamh were not to win.. Leanne for me would be in the top 10 (atm) but would be about 10th.
also
Monika where I like her song she would be under Leanne maybe 12th overall.
If Lee or Micky were to win, Ireland would be about 18th overall as both ballads are BLAND and the singers can't hold a note in tune. It would be a Euro disaster for Ireland.
So please Niamh or Leanne to win
both of them I'm sure would make the Final of ESC 2010 but Niamh could make the top 10. Leanne would score about 18th - 22nd in the Final
I agree that Niamh's song is the best choice for Ireland. Furthermore I think it's far superior to the Norwegian song because while My heart is yours is pompous and operatic It's for you is merely a ballad. The arrogance associated with opera and classical music could send voters off in the opposite direction and music experts like those (presumably) on the juries will not be impressed with Didrik's vocal abilities. Niamh on the other hand doesn't presume to be anything but an Irish singer of an Irish ballad, she's already won this contest so she's got nothing to prove, and the millions of ballad lovers out there are dying to hear this year's first really GOOD ballad. Well here it is. Choose wisely tonight, Ireland. You could be selecting a winner.
What I will say for Niamh's song is that it is vastly superior to most of the tripe that has been offered and easily in the best 5 songs so far. Doesn't say too much about this year but it does come down to who you are competing against!
Niamh's song is nice and I think it could do well for us but I wouldn't rush out to buy it. I think the end is good but it is strikingly similar to Norway as people have said problem is Norway has the advantage of hosting the show and having a cute guy performing it. Niamh may not have the same appeal
I agree with Mina!
I predict even TOP 5 for Norway in Oslo!
But Anna's song is of course the best of all 3!!
If Ireland choose NImh and Sweden choose Anna, Niamh & Didrik will lose many points because Nimah & Didrik song is similar and from this 3 songs Sweden song is better
I'm 100% positive that Didrik would get (or will get) more points than Niamh and Anna together.
And I'm not even a fan of his.
lol
Axel,
of course...we can't all like the same people. I just don't think you can say that Dima won despite his looks when we all know (at least I do) that his looks was something that helped him as he has so many female fans who consider him hot.
In Marija's case, yes, I agree.
If Ireland choose NImh and Sweden choose Anna, Niamh & Didrik will lose many points because Nimah & Didrik song is similar and from this 3 songs Sweden song is better.
