Iceland sends Hera Björk to Eurovision

Tonight, the Icelandic national final was held. The televoters decided the Hera Björk will defend the Icelandic colours at the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo, with her song Je ne sais quoi, which she wrote together with Örlygur Smári, who has also been responsible for Iceland's Eurovision entries of 2000 and 2008.

The winner of the Icelandic national final was chosen by televoting and only the top two were announced. Hera Björk won ahead of Jógvan Hansen.

Before becoming Iceland's Eurovision entrant for the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest, Hera Björk was backing vocal of the Icelandic Eurovision entries of 2009 and 2008 and reached 2nd place in last year's Danish national final with Someday.

esctoday.com poll results

The esctoday.com poll voters agreed with the results in the national final as Hera Björk was the runaway poll winner with 54.8%.

esctoday.com national final awards 2010

The 2010 esctoday.com National Final Awards will be held between April and May, which means between the national final season and the Eurovision Song Contest. We will repeat the same format with two rounds for nominations which was used this year - you can read how it works here. However, this time the individual polls for each country will always be held right after the national final, when the entries are still fresh. You can vote for your favourite performance not to qualify in the Icelandic national final here and for your favourite song not to qualify here.

I don't know if people here know it but tonight it was announced that 74.655 votes were cast in the Icelandic final and Hera Björk got 21.694 votes and Jógvan 21.471 votes that means it there were only 223 votes between them two. How closer could it get!!!!!!

Hera has a good, strong voice, but somehow....... this song is so typical for eurovision. Anyway, good luck Iceland !
( Last year, I liked very much Yohanna - Is it true )

Good Singer, very distinctive voice... ok it's very similiar to "This is my life" but then again, no one but us fans will remember....
Hera is moving just right for her size. But i had laugh when she was doing those sidesteps with the background singers... how many times did we exactly those steps on the ESC stage... a zillion one... get rid of it, it's ridiciously oldfashioned..

Good song, good performance, but are we sure Bjork isn't Chiara in a fright wig?

Nice singer but the song is nothing new and at least she must dance a bit!

Well... I like this one...classic pop, ear-friendly, not too modern but ok...it's overall much better than the others chosen this weekend...it's not Yohanna but I still would like to see it in the final! And, boy, she has a VOICE!!!!
Good luck Iceland!!

she surely imitates chiara...even the way she moves her head while she sings...my goodness! but at least chiara knows which type of music suits her well.....this one did not! the song really does not suit her although she has a powerful voice and an average song. will not be a topper.

This is such a dissapointment for Iceland.... oldfashioned song, the wrong singer for this mediocre song, bad copy of this is my life, I see this going absolutely nowhere.....

Hera is a good singer - no matter what size she might have
But the song she had last year DMG was so much better...
Good Luck Iceland - you will reach the final, I guess

Great song but a cross between 'this is my life' by Euroband and 'Drama Queen' by DQ. Top 10 predicted for me

Worst than Yohanna, but not as bad as others chosen this week-end...

Right, Chiara from Iceland! :-)
The song is powerful, but somehow average.
This year's songs seem to be dating back to the 70's, so far.

Another average song in this year's contest - this time Euro trash.
I'm still waiting for a song I like ...
