Is it true that half the Population of Malta has already participated the Eurovision national selection in this country? Someone told me that and now I believe it! lol

@sabi love
Yes, pick J. Anvil next year and have him sing 5 songs and choose from that, lol. ;)

I have been listening to the 20 finalists and these are the ones that I think could amount to something:
'Samsara', 'My dream', 'Hold on', 'Waterfall' (it is oldfashioned, but ESC aims at every age level) and 'Moments'. I am sorry, Lawrence Gray fans, but that song is just not good. I am sure that the final result will most probably not include any of the four I mentioned... :D

EUROPE welcomes THEA GARETT

IT CANNOT BE

OTHERWISE

The 'unknowns' should win... Thea/Dorothy/the one who sings that blues song... and still, none would probably do better than midtable in the final...

there is only one solution for malta

we need to scrap this festival off our calender once and for all.

we should choose internaly one great singer with a fantastic voice. (we have plenty) gave her/him 3/5 songs and the people will vote for the what they feel is the best one. this is the best solution.

raquela/ miriam christine/j.anvil ets is out and that horrible act by silverclash is in??? what the hell is going on here?

iam afraid lawrence gray will win with what it must be europe's most boring/old fashioned and outdated song.

ome on malta we all know what happened last year with chiara. just a good voice is not enough. lawrence gray does not appeal to europe of 2010!!!

iam only hoping on on thae garett/pamela/claudia.

they are the best from this very very bad year for the malta song.

Not happy that Curiosity and Here I Am didn't qualify and shocked but happy to see that Miriam Christine and JAnvil didnt either.

Top 3 for me
Claudia Faniello - Samsara
Dorothy Bezzina - Moments
SilverClash - Broken

People are saying that Malta won't do well because songs are boring but there is 50% jury vote now and they will vote on song quality.
It's my time was quite boring but good last year and it got 5th place, so a song like Moments could do ok at esc.

Go Claudia Faniello!

I really hope Malta will not chose that Lawrence guy though :(

I think the battle will be between Claudia and Lawrence

no raquela? errrm? what? lol this is really strange....never even imagined sucha good voice would not make it while others who screached throughout their song would pass. well, good luck to the finalists. then this makes it clear that Claudia will be the winner. most probably thea garreth will be 3rd as a new comer who impressed and 2nd place will be between pamela, eleonor and lawrence. then the real fight will be for the secodn and maybe third place. the winner? no..we already know it! WE WANT CLAUDIA NOW!

OMG I listened to "Samsara" studio version, and it's much, much better!! :) Maybe in ESC that can sound closer to studio version than in Maltese NF, coz it was poor sound for all songs in Maltese NF!! So now I wanna like this:
1. Claudia - Samsara
2. Pamela Bezzina
3. Dorothy Bezzina
Good luck Malta (K)

Can somebody explain to me why they felt the need to get a bunch of bored looking teenagers to sit on the stage in odd jumpers? They look like they are hating every minute of it!!!

I think the best one is surely My Dream by Thea, strong voice

is molitva old fashioned..I guess yes!! bay's songecause lawrence gr is just a ballod and not old fashioned. lawrence or thea will win now.I wish lawrence to go to oslo though. I don't why europe is underestimating this song....well even chiara's angel was uderestimated..and the result was 2nd so!!

John Gray [52490]
Sun 17 Jan 2010 08:52:14

is this the Maltese joke of the year??

OMG! Silver Clash?? Petra?? Ruth Portelli?? Ryan Dale & Duninca???? Waterfall??? Words are not enough???? I think this is the list in which 16 of them should have been left out!

I'm very sry for Grave Dancers, Mirage, Here I am, I Surrender, Who Cares? Change, Curiosity... I'm fed up mentioning! These were all great!

No points from the UK dear Malta! I'm not going to follow your selections anymore because this thing is getting worse every year!

Ridiculous!

I know Eurovision means a lot to Malta but COME ON?!
Is that the best they can choose from? Although I admit Claudia Faniello is the best of a bad bunch.

Since we can't have Chiara this year, we might as well ask PBS/TVM to scrap the selection process and just send an SOS to Ira Losco!

But OMG, that is even stranger to have them all compete against each other. My favourites weren't even in the overall Top 20???? :O :( :@
I hate that voting system! :( It's probably "fair", but OMG! Terrible choices. Anyway, the only one I want to see win now is Dorothy Bezzina.

Next year I hope they pick out less (bad) songs for a NF or try something else...

i was just watching foxy federation....id like to add ,it was appalling.
however i was really happy to see dana international and terri hatcher as part of the trio.
i guess they must need part time work.

malta really needs to change their format.....choose one artist to sing five great songs composed for them and then choose the best.
too much money is spent on absolute rubbish to perform in the song contest

worst national final in a long time ! maybe the song "moments" could go to Olso

Here is a blog I came across he sums it brilliantly -http://personalperspectivemalta.blogs pot.com/2010/01/what-if-they-were-drinking-vodkathis.html

Different number of songs made it from each semi since they were competing all against each other, all 36, not competing against the songs in their semifinals.

The only song I VAGUELY like is Ole Satchmo blues - and I'd rate it as 6-7/10

Gary Speirs [10199]

I have to agree with Laila - how did they get to this 20, with 2 from one semi final, 4 from another, 3 from another - its very strange and fishy to me....

Foxy Federation - Fired up
(Philip Vella/Gerard James Borg)

I like this song, and think it deserves a place in the final

Klinsmann - Her name was Anne
(Jonathan Spiteri & Klinsmann / Aldo Spiteri)

I prefered his other songs. He is cute, but the song is very average

Claudia Faniello - Samsara
(Philip Vella/Gerard James Borg)

The best song from Claudia Faniello. She should win with this and go to Oslo

Claire Galea - Ole Satchmo blues
(Claire Galea/Erin Tanti)

strange song, I like it and hate it at the same time

Glen Vella - Just a little more love
(Paul Giordimaina/Fleur Balzan)

I prefer the original Michael Jackson. They can't be serious with this

Thea Garrett - My dream
(Jason Paul Cassar/Sunny Aquilina)

sweet ballad, but not special enough for europe . I wish thea to be succesful and maybe also win

Eleanor Spiteri - Velvet ocean
(Paul Abela/Joe Julian Farrugia)

she is better in trilogy

Tiziana Galleja - Words are not enough
(John David Zammit/Paul Callus)

Bad song and bad performer

Eleanor Cassar - Choices
(Paul Giordimaina/Fleur Balzan)

The weakest song by Eleonor in the last years

Audrey Marie Bartolo - Good intentions
(Miriam Christine/Rita Pace)

I can't listen to this song in full, because it annoys me

Wayne Micallef - Save a life
(Wayne Micallef)

He is a nice man, but not a strong song. If I could, I would probably vote for him

Ryan Dale & Duminika - One for you
(Ryan Dale/Jon Lukas)

The joke entry from Malta. It no longer works in eurovision

Petra Zammit - All I need
(Andrew Zammit/Keith Zammit)

Song is quite okay, but surely not a winner

Pamela Bezzina - Hold on
(Paul Giordimaina/Fleur Balzan)

I am disappointd with Pamela's song this year. Too much of everything in one

Nadine Axisa & Clifford Galea - Once in a lifetime
(Jason Paul Cassar/Mario Farrugia)

They look young but the song is so old

Priscilla & Kurt - Waterfall
(Mark Debono/Rita Pace)

Malta is choosing always these type of old fashioned festival songs

Ruth Portelli - Three little words
(Philip Vella/Gerard James Borg)

Another ballad which I heard too many times

Silver Clash - Broken
(Robert Parde)

Are they serious? This must be the 2nd joke entry

Lawrence Gray - Stories
(Ray Agius/Godwin Sant)

Why is he the big favourite to win in Malta? I can't see why because his song is very boring and he is not telegenic.

Dorothy Bezzina - Moments
(Chan Vella/Alexia Schembri)

I think the song is not so good, but her voice is okay. Also very boring

"Samsara" is the best option for Malta but won't win ESC

I can't understand why anyone would vote SilverClash through with a bad song and terrible live vocals INSTEAD of J. Anvil who had a great song AND sang perfectly live???

Also, I do not understand this voting system. I don't like the fact that they don't announce the qualifiers from each semi in the program. I don't understand why:

Semi 1: ONLY 2 qualified??? :@
Semi 2: 3 qualified
Semi 3: 4 qualified!!!!!! 4!!! :@
Semi 4: 3 qualified
Semi 5: 4 qualified!!!!!! 4!!! :@
Semi 6: 4 qualified!!!!!! 4!!! :@

Why 4 qualifiers only in some, 3 in some and only 2 in one of them? I don't like this system. Why not just choose 2 or 3 from EACH semi. The 2 or 3 with MOST votes that night. :( I can't believe we get a final with 18 bad songs (2 are OK/good). :O :(
