Malta: Pamela releases debut album

Pamela, who has already taken part in the Maltese selections for the Eurovision Song Contest various times, is finally going to release her debut album. The CD is called Whispers, which was also the title of her 2008 Malta Song for Europe entry. You can take part in a special competition to win one of five albums!

The album was presented to the public on 25th November at Tat-Tara in Saqqajja Hill Rabat. It contains 13 tracks, some of them were previously released as singles but there are also new songs. One of them is a cover version Pamela recorded with her mother and sister. The other 12 tracks were all composed by Paul Giordimaina with lyrics by Fleur Balzan. One of the songs is called Kliem and was actually released by the composer himself in 2000.

Pamela took part in the Maltese final in 2005 for the first time and would do so every year after since. In 2008, she competed with Whispers in the semi final but did not make it to the final eight. She is back in 2009 and has already presented the song Live for today in the second semi final as part of the group Q that will also perform the song Before you walk away in the 6th semi final on 20th December. Meanwhile, Pamela has established herself as a popular singer in Malta. Her international appearances include concerts in China, Kazakhstan, Romania and Russia.

Competition

You can win one of five albums. To take part, you have to answer the following three questions:

  1. Pamela is taking part in the 2009 Maltese selection as part of the Group Q that consists of five former Malta Song for Europe contestants. Who are the other four?
  2. When did Pamela achieve her highest position in Malta Song for Europe so far?
  3. Paul Giordimaina composed 12 tracks on the album. When did he represent Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest as a singer?

Please send the correct answers to the questions along with your postal address and your esctoday membership number to win@esctoday.com. To keep the competition fair, plese do NOT post the answers below.

whispers remains the biggest mystery how and why it did not reach the maltese finals in 2008. why on earth this beautiful song was forgotten by the judges.

She is great, I like her very much...
"Whispers" definitly deserved to score high in the Maltese selection last year, perhaps even a victory...
