Late withdrawal from Junior Contest

Azerbaijan: Pays fine to the EBU

Following Azerbaijan’s resent withdrawal from the upcoming Junior Eurovision Song Contest, the Azerbaijan Public Television and Radio Broadcasting Company have been fined by the European Broadcasting Union. Under EBU rules any country which withdraws after a specific date laid down by the broadcasting organisation, will be fined and the participation fee will be retained by the EBU.

Fuzuli Ismayilov, Department Head of Public Television and Radio Broadcasting Company on Music, Feature and Entertaining Programs has confirmed that this fine has been paid by the broadcaster and has explained why the countries withdrawal from the Junior contest was necessary to the Azerbaijan Press Association.

Azerbaijan wanted to attend Junior Eurovision contest, but we demand child or a group of children, who feel free in a big stage and will able to involve the interest of millions of people. There are such children in Azerbaijan, but they should be prepared for such responsible performance. It depends on proper bodies more than us. Public Television and Radio Broadcasting Company is a member of European Broadcasting Union and is a first broadcaster of all Eurovision Contests. This issue is not at the competence of the company",  Fuzuli Ismayilov said.

Mr. Ismayilov said that the using the TV company is not enough to make the preparation of the Contest worthily .The candidates should be presented by proper bodies. For example, Anna Sajina and Eldar Jafarov were presented by Azerbaijan Sport Dance Federation to participate in Eurovision Dance contest. Public Television has presented application and participation fee. We do not want to refuse this Contest. We have not been assisted to find talented child and we have to refuse the participation. We have paid a fine to EBU", he said.

This would indicate that Azerbaijan will wish to participate in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and indeed make their debut in the 2009 contest.

@Euro Sheep

I wouldn't like my children should compete on a stage dressed with ridicule wasp clothes, being watched by whole Europe.
How much will I spend on psychologists when they grow up??

The name of all of this is simply: CHILDREN EXPLOITATION

i cant offend you because most of eurovision fans dont like such songs, if i hate everyone who hates azeri song i will not have got any friend :D
if you listened the songs of OGAE SC
there are songs like spanish and lebanese
we love them because they are dramatic or oriental
but not all europeans love them
the tastes are different
but i want ta say one thing - in belgrade most fans love it
day after day was better to see from the concert hall than from tv live

bancrupt? it was 20 000 euro
ITV is a very rich broadcaster
this fee was nothing for ITV

compare they spent about 8 million euro for only eurovision 2008 :P

whatever wish the other participants good luck in Cyprus!!!

They should be prepared for such responsible performances ??? What a joke... It's a kiddies festival, with kids just writing and composing their own songs and most important just have FUN.... But he that's something Eastern Europe did not understand as yet...You have to win. Probably they would punish the kids if they would not come top 5. Shame on you guys. Is the Azerbijan tv bancrupt now, having to pay that fee ????

"Belgium had the best entry in JESC 2007 if you ask me "
I sooo totally agree, best JESC song ever imo, with Belgium 2008 as the second best :D

Euro Sheep
" (sshh, don't let Jonny hear me )"
haha too late I heard you :P
I can't believe you've played it 40 times in the last two days, thats just crazy! :) The only songs i've managed to do that with are "hit me up" (Gia Farrell) and "anders" (trust)! :P And those two were actually really good songs so god knows how you managed to do it with a bad one lmao! :P

I love JESC, but i don't believe the kids are that involved behind their songs. They probably write a gew rhyms and then an entire production team (which is probably rejects from the Lithuanian Eurovision NF) stages those little puppets, and it's quiet uncredible.

Thats what i think, however, JESC has so much spiriy & happiness that Eurovision itself lacks

No, Armenia's entry last year was unbelievable compared to this year! I love "Erazanq" so much, I've played it 40 times in just 2 days!!! Armenia were absolutely robbed last year!!!! Armenia = true champions of JESC 2007 (sshh, don't let Jonny hear me :P)

2. Belarus
3. Belgium

"I'd like this will be the last edition of JESC. It's a horrible contest. I don't understand why Belgium and Netherlands still participate while the other Western countries (and many Eastern also) have withdrawn."

Why is it a horrible contest? You are just so serious and boring that you can't even see IT IS JUST FOR FUN! Belgium and the Netherlands either have nothing better to do or actually (shock horror) still like to compete in JESC!

Jonny
The Serbian song?! Dear God noooo! :P I'm not a fan, it's nothing like "Pisi Mi" from last year! The amazing singing cupcakes shall win!!! Save the planet and vote for Romania! :D :D :D and not Belarus (they have won too many times! :P)

I think it will be better for Azerbaijan to debut in 2009! They've done quite a lot this year: ESC Semi and Final, EDC and all within the space of a few months after becoming part of the EBU!!!

It's a real shame... for sure. But I hope they will debut in 2009 in Kiev.

I like JESC, can't wait to begin in 2 weeks. :D
