Norway: MGP 2009 venues announced

NRK has announced the venues for Melodi Grand Prix 2009. Even if all contracts have not been signed yet, the broadcaster is confident that the northern town of Bodø will again be one of the hosts. The final will once again be held at the Oslo Spektrum.

The dates and venues announced are as follows:

1st semi-final: Kongsvinger, 24 January 2009
2nd semi-final: Bodø, 31 January 2009
3rd semi-final: Skien, 7 February 2009
The last chance (Siste sjansen) round: Ålesund, 14 February 2009
Final: Oslo Spektrum, 21 February 2009

Producer Dag Hvaring from MGP events says geography is important when the semi-final venues are decided. “Now we have Ålesund in the west,  Bodø  in the north and Skien, Kongsvinger and Oslo in the south of the country.” He also states “We are really glad that we now have the semi-finals on Saturdays and 10 minutes extra airtime, that will be used for regional items

The head of  Bodø council Odd Tore Fygle has however still expressed reservations about hosting MGP to local press. He says they will still need to secure financing for the event from local businesses and sponsors. NRK are however confident, that one of the semi-finals will be hosted by Bodø, which they think is just perfect for the regional heat.

The Norwegians are as patient as the Swedish I see..lol.
Anyway, I loved Hold on, be strong and Maria and I hope they send an equally good song/performer next year ;)

This year's Norweigian entry was superb. Norway usually send good entries.

Btw, 2008 was Norway's best placing since 2003 not 1999.

Go Norway go...
I liked last years' entry very much !
I was surprised that it didn't turn out to be an all over Europe hit !
