No confusion: NOS contacted Anouk!

The Netherlands: The story continues

Yesterday we already reported that Dutch broadcaster NOS started negotiations with Dutch singer Anouk about a possible participation in the Eurovision Song Contest next year. Today the entire Dutch media was on the news, which lead to some confusion as well.

Some Dutch press agencies and websites made it look like as if Anouk applied for a Eurovision ticket herself.Tonight, Anouk’s management stated that Anouk was contacted by the Dutch broadcaster; she didn’t take the first step herself! Earlier tonight, showbizz magazine SBS 6 Shownieuws reported  that Anouk was not amused about these false press releases, and that she had stopped the negotiations with NOS right away.

This doesn’t seem to be very reliable though, as we have reasons to believe that Anouk’s management and the broadcaster are still on speaking terms.

Cornald Maas, the Dutch commentator: ‘There’s no reason at all to blow this up. Everybody knows that NOS contacted Anouk. We all know that the broadcaster is very happy with the interest of Anouk: nobody expected that in the first place! Lets wait and see where the negotiations might lead to.’

Last Saturday esctoday.com got the chance to ask Anouk some quick questions about her possible participation in Moscow. First of all, she told us that she was nicely surprised to be chosen as the best choice for the Eurovision Song Contest by the Dutch fans. ‘I’m willing to consider it, if the NOS sends me an invitation. I don’t want to compete with other artists in a national songcontest though.'

Apparently, the Dutch artist had some thoughts as well already about the song selection: ‘I would like to write a couple of songs myself, and present them to the NOS. It would be up to them to pick the most suitable song, or maybe the public could have a say in it as well.'

In an earlier interview Anouk said that taking part in the contest might become her European breakthrough. ‘Lets face it; The Netherlands doesn’t stand a chance of winning the contest anymore, but at least I would reach millions of European viewers! Reason enough for me to seriously consider a participation!’.

I totally agree on Modern World. Girl is also a catchy one that could have done well.... from her new album I really lke Ball & Chain and Might as well..

My top of played songs of this year's esc:
- Portugal
- Belgium
- would have to be Hind :)
- Bulgaria
- Albania

But please note that the most played song in my iTunes (by an absolute LANDSLIDE) is still Visionary Dream, last year's Georgian song.. that song was just cult. It actually made me really interested in Georgia, even more so because Saakashvili's wife is Dutch :P

As for Olympic medals, two gold in one day :D Were actually in the top 10 for medals !! Can't believe it! :P

Mina,
About "Nobody's wife" and "Modern world" - I agree with you totally. They are very, very good. With a song like those two Anouk would do very well in Moscow :)

Vincent,
with Anouk it depends on the song for me...some of her songs I find excellent..Nobody's wife is for me like one of the best songs of the last decade. I also like Modern World very, very much and if she writes something powerful like those 2 songs I'm sure she will do very well.
But there are songs like Lost or Michel that I believe they wouldn't do well (despite the fact that I like them, I just can't picture the average european voting for such a ballad).

About my most played songs from this eurovision, Believe still hasn't lost its appeal for me, I listen to it every day and I also still listen to hold on, be strong and divine.

about anouk now: thus is the biggest proof that taste differs a lot amongst the participating countries.I just find the songs and the style of anouk just nice and pleasant, and although i have been trying for some days to discover an excellency in her clips, well i did not. But you see, the dutch fans voted strongly for her and they seem to anticipate her participation in the contest.

johny, stockhlm, mina and marc, my most played song from esc 2008 remains bulgaria, "dj, please tae me away" sounds so uplifting and fresh into my ears. But i am afraid in the last weeks it seems to be the nly esc entry i am listening to, with "ele kele" following, but probably just because it is in the same mp3 list. No other esc 2008 sng gets any airplay with me anymore

Stockholm, I must agree with Jonny. The Azeri entry gives me shivers, actually I only put it on when I need to go to the toilet and have a problem in that department.... Listening to Day after day makes me go straight away...

Don't worry about Belgium splitting, this is going on for eternity. They both want Brussels and that's simly not possible, so ..... A lot of blabla really but things wil stay the way they are.

It's still "Day after day" :) But I listen a lot to "Era stupendo" too. This was my first favourite. Shame about Paolo's performance though.

JP at RI translated the title of Linda's song "how black can it be". You know, "svart" means black and "svårt" means difficult :)

Oh yeah i'll listen to that this afternoon :) What is your most played song from Belgrade? :)

Mina
I did consider visiting a doctor over it, if I listen to it too much I might become deaf!! :) (joking, I do actually like the song now!)

About your medals, I hope Russia doesn't catch up with you..they won Eurovision, that should be enough for 2008 :P
