Dutch fans have made their choice

The Netherlands: Send Anouk to Moscow!

Two weeks ago we already reported about the online Eurovision poll going on in The Netherlands. Some journalists and fans of the Eurovision Song Contest organised a poll to find the most suitable Dutch candidate for Moscow. The results have just been released: the Dutchies want Anouk!

For 6 consecutive weeks Dutch fans could send in their top 10 lists. Every week 5 artists or bands proceeded to the final which consisted of 25 potential representatives.

The outcome shows several suprises: Gerard Joling, one of the most popular singers at the moment in The Netherlands, didn’t score as well as expected. Also the gay boyband Bearforce 1 didn’t make it to the top 10, although they’ve shown interest in a Eurovision adventure several times already. Probably the biggest surprise might be the name of Glennis Grace in the top 5. The Dutch singer represented her country already back in 2005, but didn’t make it to the final then, which caused a lot of criticism in The Netherlands about the current voting system. Apparently quite some Dutch fans want to give Glennis a second chance.

The organisers of the poll, The Eurovision Platform, hope that Dutch broadcaster NOS will have a close look at the list, as it reflects the wish of the Dutch fans. The official statement says: ‘We think that all artists in the top 5 should be capable to do very well in The Eurovision Song Contest, maybe even the entire top 10! Hopefully, NOS will bring out a name as soon as possible, so we can contact all talented Dutch songwriters and producers to write a great song! It’s time to see The Netherlands back in the final!’

The full outcome of the poll:

 1. Anouk 490  14. Gerard Joling  229
 2. Within Temptation 486  15. The Toppers 223
 3. Nick & Simon 360  16. Bearforce 1 219
 *. Glennis Grace 360  17. Nathalie (Makoma) 202
 5. Van Velzen 337  18. Kane 201
 6. Petra Berger 320  19. Chipz! 182
 7. Big, Black and Beautiful 317  *. Berget Lewis 182
 8. Alain Clark 315  21. Nurlaila Karim 173
 9. Ilse de Lange 271  22. Wende Snijders 146
 10. Trijntje Oosterhuis  267  23. Wouter Hamel 123
 11. Karin Bloemen 262  24. Zuco 103 112
 12. Krezip 245  25. Ellen Eeftnik 57
 13. Tatjana 243

lol
What a wise thing to do...
leave it to the fans, i mean. after all, it seems we never manage to pick the winner!
Kate Ryan, Euroband, Charlotte Perrelli,
Vania Fernandes, Antique etc etc
Seems we never get it right. so in my opinion, send the artist that gets the lowest score! Hehe

i found the very first dress of Kalomoira very very nice and i think it matched her 100% and it looked great on camera

Definitely. My mistake for not clarifying. I meant the 2nd outfit. The pink dress was cute and perfect for her.

i found the very first dress of Kalomoira very very nice and i think it matched her 100% and it looked great on camera. I did not like that much how it looked like after the strip part, but it suited great the colours of her staging

What about best song ???? Now that's more difficilt, isn't it friends ?

Not at all. For me Believing was the best song or I wouldn't have voted for it...followed closely by Oro and Hold on, be strong.

I think Plushenko needs that funny hairdo to remain his stability.... on the ice. He looks quite a nice person though. Mina I agree, Greece, Ukraine and Portugal best hairdo. What about best song ???? Now that's more difficilt, isn't it friends ?

For me worst outfits were Belgium, Sweden,Netherlands, Ukraine and hairstyle of the Russians

OMG mard I agree on everything...although about the hairstyle, I found Dima's hair ok (not much you can do with short hair anyway) but ok, Plushenko's I didn't..lol.
And speaking of hair I think Kalomoira's and Sirusho's were the best :D

The outfits of the Portugese delegation suited that song perfectly. For me worst outfits were Belgium, Sweden,Netherlands, Ukraine and hairstyle of the Russians. But I believe that's fashion over there...

i think we are forgetting vania fernandes, she is a big girl, and dressed tastefully and with dignity for a girl her size..

I disagree...I think she looked much fatter with that thing she was wearing. It wasn't an ugly outfit but it made her look very wide. I had seen her wearing jeans in a rehearsal and she looked much thinner (not thin but much thinner). If I was Vania I would wear a long skirt and a nice blouse in a dramatic colour (red maybe), it would suit her colours and the result would be more dramatic than depressing..not to mention that in that dark outfit she almost disappeared in the background when the camera wasn't very close to her.

and yes i agree charlotte and ani were wearing the same dress..
i actually think most people this year were pretty poorly dressed, no real standouts

I don't think it will appeal to many...it's a kind of music that only appeals to the fans of the particular music. Lordi did win but the masks played a big part in that victory.

Yeah but Within Temptation will make the difference. And who knows, they might surprise us..

Talking about outfits..
Norway,Greece,Poland,Armenia,S erbia were the best ones. (hope i didn't forget any1 else)
Ukraine and Sweden had almost the same outfits (charlotte is taller though lol)

Hind's outfit wasn't bad but it didn't impress me on the other hand. Her perfomance and in general her entry wasn't that strong to qualify. at least, it got some pts from eastern countries!

bleh dima's outfit was shithouse lol, but each to their own...
i agree hind's dress wasnt th best, but certainly not th worst!

Mina, do you dream of Dima at night ? Sounds as if you are madly in love with him ?

marc,
I used Dima's name (as well as Maria's) trying to make a point about the outfits I liked this year.
How strange...in a eurovision site, mentioning a participant's name..I MUST be in love with him..God give me patience :P

oh and to whoever was payin out hind's dress, well sure it wasnt a robert cavalli designed dress with swarovsky crystals like Ani, but geez there were far worse dressed people.. seems like our budding fashion critic probz has her own image issues lol

I hated Ani's dress and I also hated Hind's dress..and I wasn't thrilled with Kalomoira's outfit...or Charlotte's dress or Andy's suit!
Ofcourse there were far worse dressed ppl (Ishtar for one thing..lol) but the topic is for Netherlands, the comments were about her.
If I had to choose the best dressed singers this year it would be Dima (I liked the all white look, it suits him) and Maria from Norway (lovely blue colour, elegant dress).
Hind's dress should be 1st in a different colour (that dark colour did nothing for her) and 2nd it should be shorter.

Dear Vincent, I love Greece, and I really do mean that. IIt's my partner's country, I am probably more in Greece than you (as you live in Germany). But that doesn't mean I need to love the music, entries for Eurovision. I truely think that the last Greek entries were beyond crap.... Sorry my friend. About Helena, I have 1 cd (the one just after her win) and if I described it as toilet going music, I mean it. I can even remember listening the first time with a girlfriend of mine in London, and we listened literally 30 seconds to every song and we couldn't stop laughing. Children music.... The other topic, Greece not belonging to any voting bloc is the biggest bulls.... I have ever heard, and you know it. And if not, your blind and deaf, sorry my friend. But don't think I have an issue with Greece, because I love it, I love the people, the food, the Islands..... I have a summerhouse, so...

@vincent: well id call my number 1 garbage lol, but elena is awesome, katse kala and trelli kardia are awesome, and the greek version of mambo...
@ws: totally agree with u mate, love to see the netherlands win one day, and hind was great, i didnt think nething was wrong with her show, i found it far more proffesional than the circus side shows most of the top 10 had! the dancers were something not as in your face as say a freakin pooncy ice skater lol..

@marc
i thin after all these discussions, you really have an enormous problem with Greece..you always sond so bitter and jealous of the fact that Greece without belonging to any particular voting bloc scores pretty well year after year. And about your insulting comments about Helena Paparizou(describingher music "as music good before you go to the toilet" or something similar). It is obvious thta you have no idea at all what you are talking abou there. Helena, a highly talented person with a very good voice, avery mature attitude to her career and her life has hardly ever sung songs in the style of "Number 1" which was a perfect song for the standards of the contemporary ESCs by the way. After having some few dance pop hits with a slight latin style("Mambo" and "Gigolo" ;), she sang different kinds of songs varying from pop ballads to rockish up tempo things. Just watch this, these are only her three latest big hits in Greece:

I would love to see Netherlands win again also, but not with this Joke of a System,I would love to see a 50-50 System put into use the other countries that are in Blocs wont in a lot of ways vote for their Neigbours ,so we will all be shocked to find out what country will vote for whom, but with this Current System we all have a Sixth Sense to know what Country is gonna vote for whom.

Danniela, there was nothing wrong with Hind's performance. I agree the song wasn't the best, but the mere fact that there wasn't a whole circus on stage doesn't mean it was amateurish. In fact I found her performance a relief between all those overperformed songs.

I for one would love Nederland,to win Eurovision, again.but sadly it won't happen, just like Ireland, and belgium ,etc they will not win.with all this bias from Eastern europe, and those not even in Europe.

Lordi won and they weren't in the top 10 of eurofans!
Plus, Within Temptation have many fans around Europe.
It's a different choice

Within Temptaion do have fans but that gothic/alternative/metal/rock style (not sure what to call it)..I don't think it will appeal to many...it's a kind of music that only appeals to the fans of the particular music. Lordi did win but the masks played a big part in that victory.

To return to the original topic, Within Temptation are also very good but, again, I don't think they'd be good for Eurovision...I can't see the average European voting for them.

Oh no. Lordi won and they weren't in the top 10 of eurofans!
Plus, Within Temptation have many fans around Europe.
It's a different choice
