Ireland: Point Theatre to re-open under new name

Dublin's Point Theatre is to re-open as a 13,000 capacity venue with a new name this December. The venue also known as 'The Point' or 'The Point Depot' became a familiar setting to millions of European television viewers in the 1990's, as it was the venue for the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994, 1995, and 1997, becoming the only venue to have hosted the final three times.

The Point thus also served as the first place the dancing sensation Riverdance was performed, being in the interval act of the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest.

Mobile phone company O2 today announced Ireland's first ever music venue naming rights deal, which will see the Dublin docklands venue renamed 'The O2.' The deal was done in conjunction with worldwide music promoter Live Nation.

The venue will open its doors this December and promises to stage 150 live events each year. The venue promises an amphitheatre design and "clear sightlines and proximity to the stage for everyone in the audience, due to its unique tiered seating design".

The Point closed its doors for the refurbishment early last year.

The phone company will also be offering ticket incentives to its customers, saying that they will have the chance to buy tickets 48 hours before they go on general release and can receive fast track entry to the venue.

The amount the company paid for the naming rights has not been disclosed.

Paulina GAGARINA & Anastassiaya PRIKHODKO !!!
A brilliant duo!
This would have won any Eurovision by far!!
Paulina GAGARINA was the winner of STAR FACTORY-2 (STAR FACTORY is the Russian analogue of the international project POP IDOL) and Anastssiya Prikhodko the winner of STAR FACTORY-7 !!!
What a duo!
MOSCOW 2009!!!
WELCOME!

Why am I confusing you? It's normal to agree on some songs and disagree on others :P
And I definitely agree that Israel has sent some of the best songs.

Mina...you confuse me a lot mow :-) we do agree agein a ba ni bi is one of my favourites winning songs...actually i think Israel has presented some of the best entries ever..a ba ni bi was great, hallelujia was nice, then 1982 "Hora"(2nd was very nice and it has a great choreography, 1985 "Ole Ole"(by the sme singe from a ba nibi, 5th place) was very entertaining, 1983 "Hi" (2nd place with only 6 pts behind the 1st) is a nice and a personal classic, 2005 shiri maimon's ballad and staging was great....this year israel was also god, 1998 Dana, super(but the hebrew version), and also 1988 was very good..i think israel together with Spain are my favourite countries in the ESC..to refresh your memory:

http://www.youtube.c(...)/watch?v=feeKlNS_p3M ------>1976(also good)

i liked some of the turkish entries very much: 2000(great song), 2004 For real(bombastically good), i liked 2006, Suprestar, but the english version and i found Deli this year ok..but my favourite turkish entry comes again from the 80's...a very underrated up tempo entry, which in my opinion had nothing less than the very good Aba-nibi, which had won a few years before..what do you think of this??

Vincent,
half native language half English is ok by me :D
I like Hani but A ba ni bi for me was sooo great...hard to compare.

i am 100% for the country language rule or at least half this half english or whatever other language..i think this was one of the best elements of this contest, i.e. to get a feeling 4 ther languages..i was always fascinated since i was a kind by hebrew, serbian and spanish..and i was depressed with finnish, swedish and abve all..with German..

I think Turkey has sent a lot of good songs, no matter what language. I didn't like last year's entry though, nor "Superstar".

Belly dancing is very popular here so I thought I'd give it a try. It was great fun but very difficult. I gave it up.

Indeed, he seemed very happy when the UK gave Greece 12 points, maybe he wants to go back to Athens for another eurovision :)

One word . . . . . . immigrants!!! I think "shake it up sekerim" did well because it was quite a modern sounding song, there are Turks all over europe, and it had belly dancers!!!!!!! :) Well the UK gave it 12 points anyway, but that was probably because Terry Wogan kept on pointing out that all of the Turkey dancers were British!! :D

I don't like the Turkish language at all..I still don't know why I liked Deli this much this year...very strange for me!

'' Terry Wogan kept on pointing out that all of the Turkey dancers were British!! '''

And this year he sounded like he liked our entry and indeed the Uk gave us 12 pts :D

The one I liked the least was last year's and I still can't understand how it scored higher than Deli!!!
