This Wednesday June 18th, there will also be the Eurovision Quiz where fans and listeners have the chance to win some Eurovision goodies. On offer this week is a DVD of Elnur & Samir who represented Azerbaijan this year at the Eurovision Song Contest 2008.
Another special prize is a copy of the open air concert "Legends and Sensation of Eurovision" which took place on the 16th of May 2008 in Belgrade with the participation of Ruslana, Dana International, Maria Serifovic, Zeljko Joksimovic and Elnur & Samir from Azerbaijan.
Show time: 20:00 CET to 23:00 CET.

I mean, we were already relying heavily on the jury vote because for simple diaspora and political reasons it will be extremely hard for us to qualify ever again...
but Hind was by far and away one of the top 5 performers on the night itself... if the juries think that songs like Dima Bilan's ode to Dima Bilan himself, the ridiculous ice skater and the hyperactive violinist, Greece and the same song as the last four years, Armenia with the 2006 song again or (shiver) the Polish fish from the Titanic movie needed to be saved over songs like
- Hind, best voice of the night
- Belgium, such a lovely original less-is-more song,
- or the biggest shame, San Marino, which brought probably the bets pop song after norway in the whole bloody contest
...
i dont understand these juries. Theyre probably as political as the rest of te voting public.

Because by no way the jury selected " Hero " because of musical reasons ? Who said it was first with the backup jury ? Never ever, Ukraine was first with the backup jury for sure and even Iceland was more successful I guess.
Hero was selected because Sweden is a imortant market for the EBU and there would have been bad rates and little phone calles without Charlotte. I expected the jury to save quality like the Hungarian song, something ethnic/tradtional like the cypriot entry or even Switzerland cause Paolo was a million times better than Charlotte. " Hero " wouldn't have done so horribly badly if it really was such a big jury fav. - the taste of the jury and telelvoters almost matched last year : why should it have been so different in 2008 ? Get rid of the jury for 2008, Charlotte was this years Kate Ryan, she offered nothing to the final.

I really can't bring myself to listen to that Stockselius character and his excuses. He's either a fool or corrupt..either way it spells big trouble for the future of ESC. We need 'regime change'...and quick.

Svante's comment may seem strange and confusing. I assume he means that whichever song qualifies as the jury choice the juries have had a chance to listen to it numerous times whilst the majority of the televoters have heard it only once or twice.
I mentioned the procedure for selecting the 10th finalist just in case.... (Other members have asked about it before.)
I also hope they will publish the results of the jury voting.
i do not trust any blog and any internet site 100% not even 90%. All i am saying is that i get very suspicious and disappointed by the fact that this year they did not edit any back up juries even after the contest. I suspect that has a purpose. I am sure back in 2006 the irish eurovision site(to name one at least) "all kinds of everything" made these results known. This year n matter how hard i tried and searched, there are nowhere to be found, except from the sad news that Sweden came first in the back up juries in the 2nd semi-final. Why don't we get the rest results? I suspect they are so different from the televoting that the organisers d nt want to cause a sentation or even a scandal

I know. I'm not saying it was EBU's fault, just that the reasoning behind the jury choice isn't 'a song that needs a little more listening' but just what the juries like. There's a difference and he shouldn't try to make it seem like something else.

EBU followed the rules. The song which got the jury's highest marks and which wasn't already chosen by the televoters qualified. Apparently that song was "Hero".
They have a radio there....
and it is international....
By the way, what's a 'yournalist'?

They thought they should give songs that ''maybe need a little more of a listening a chance''....Hero was that song? What kind of 'more' listening did hero need? One such song from the 2nd semi would be Switzerland, in the final he might perform better and actually get a good position, because the only reason this song didn't go to the final was his performance.
And in the first semi, that song should be the one from San Marino because it's exactly the kind of song that 'needs a little more of a listening'.
