[UPD] Eurovision 2008: the results of the first semi final
The following countries made it to the final IN THE RUNNING ORDER:
- Romania (#1)
- Armenia (#5)
- Bosnia & Herzegovina (#6)
- Israel (#7)
- Finland (#8)
- Poland (#10)
- Azerbaijan (#20)
- Russia (#24)
- Norway (#25)
The grand final takes place this Saturday, 24th May at 21:00 CET. The remaining ten songs will be chosen in the second semi final to be held on Thursday.

Azerbaijan was the most positive surprise....and very original....I couldnt sing like that. :-)))) Hope it does well. My fav was Romania and it got through. That's good.

Disappointed that Slovenia didnt make it...
Armenia...slightly disappointed with her vocal..
Greece is only average the ending was alot better
Azerbajan ...good show never rated before this
Finland..good ishi just wasnt in a rock mood
Poland..lovely preformance glad she got through
Norway..Maria came across a bit old .could do with bit a more funky

Netherlands:Good enough dissapointed it didnt qualify.
Bosnia:Jurys still oit on this one..seems to be agood song...yet the preformance got on my nerves
Romanai:Good again a big surprise for me.
Ireland:Good show yet even though i wanted it to qualify i ahd rated it 12 overtaken by Azerbajan,and Isreal and Romania...the backlash is unberable on the radio...OMG i am listening to this crap since 1999"we need to go back tthe drawing board"etc....
Belguim:i liked it and hated it in equal measure!!Andorra:worst vocal of the night she was in my top ten until i heard her!
Now as for the 2nd semi again we must wait until the live show finishes but what stands out at the moment SWEDEN TURKEY ICELAND UKRAINE MALTA are 5 i would like to see qualify
as for the big 4 which i reall y think should be abolished as 4 awful songs go through the only one worthy of noting is SERBIA..UK WORST ENTRY IN YEARS

I can't understand something: I remember that everyone said that the dutch song was average (and worse) when it was announced on March 7th. What happened suddenly and everyone thinks that it should pass? The dress was bad and Hind looked like an iceberg!
I think that people voted for the most impressive performances and not for neighbors etc. This is proven with the qualifications of Israel, Poland, Finland and Norway (all great songs and performances) while countries that could have benefited like Slovenia and Montenegro are out. I like the new semi system!

Glad to see the novelty songs of Belgium, Estonia and Ireland did not get through. You can't fool the voting public any more. Let it be a wake up call. Great to see Poland, Greece and particularly Norway through to the final. Shame about the Netherlands though.
Another question: half an hour after the semi final on our channel, I switched to the Spanish channel. There, the contest was still going on???! I thought Spain would have voted in this semi??? Can anyone explain this?
Spain voted in this Semi, but:
1st We have advertisments during while non-competing performances.
2nd The Semi Final was retransmited, as always since 2004, by the second channel of TVE (La 2), instead of the principal or the itnernational channels.
The classiest performance for me was San Marino. The most nail biting moment was wondering if Norway would make it - another brilliant effort. Disappointed for Slovenia. And I just don't get the Finnish rock thing - what's that about??? Can't wait for tomorow night!
I would chnge Azerabijan for Belgium

Hind should be in the final. She had a better voice and by far more charm than Sirusho who was mainly occupied with throwing her ... tits ... towards the camera. What a disappointment after Armenia's song last year. (Yes, I voted for Hayko although I am not part of the Armenian diaspora ...)

But I am really sad that San Marino and Belgium didn't get though. All in all, mixed feelings about the results, but my favourite songs are in the second semi anyway.

proof positive that the new voting system WORKS...........the ten best performances passed to the final,and no dispora or bloc voting has made that possible.....ireland gave lithuania 12 points for the last 2 years running thanks to dispora voting-they wont do that this year...and im irish.

Why they didn't add her in the list ?
The only countries I agree are Israel, Russia, Norway and Finland. The entries I do not understand why Greece, Romania and Armenia are in the final. I know the majority of eurofans like these 3 songs, but for me they do not deserve to reach the final instead of The Netherlands, Slovenia or San Marino.

OK, Poland and Bosnia got through, but I'm very disappointed BELGIUM won't be in the final!!!

Ukraine will be a runer up and israel will reach a top 5.
