Another first for the stage

France: Drives for Eurovision victory

French Eurovision Song Contest representative Sébastien Tellier will provide another first when he takes to the stage at the competition. esctoday.com can reveal that he will drive onto the stage in Belgrade on a golf buggy. We believe this is the first time an artist has used a moving vehicle as part of their stage performance at the competition.

The French delegation has begun to arrive in Belgrade ahead of their first dress rehearsal and press conference on Saturday. esctoday.com has learned that the stage setting will feature a honeymoon theme with the use of a golf cart to travel around the stage.

Sébastien Tellier is one of the most renowned musicians in the competition this year after a string of highly successful collaborations with bands such as Daft Punk and Air and several solo singles and albums. He is currently completing a European tour and will link with the delegation in Serbia at the end of the week.

Rita,

There are so many hits in first two albums of Alizee - Gourmandises and Mes Courants Electriques, but the last album is complete crap :( I am so dissapointed. I'd still prefer to listen to the songs like Moi Lolita, Amelie ma Dit or Je'n ai Marre. She has changed a lot since her marriage with Jeremy and break off with Mylene Farmer :( So bad...

France's entry is very catchy and congrats to the French TV for choosing Sebastien. BBC where are you?

Finally France can do better!

"We don't need a circus - just focus on the song dammit!"

Just focus on the song? Why is it okay for Ukraine, Lithuania and Moldova to reduce the contest to a circus but not for France, Spain and Ireland? Certain countries have already made a mockery of our show, and now the rest of us follow suit. People vote for circus, so that's what they get more of - until people stop voting for circus. Simple logic. If you don't like it; don't vote for it.

I love France. This song is amazing and as soon as I start listening to it I have a big smile. The performance is going to be fantastic but it will be lost on so many people, which is a shame.

Well done to France for bringing some musical sophistication to Eurovision

I look forward to Sébastien's performance. France has a good song, though not as good as last year imo. I hope it will do well.

One of my favourites too!
Does it really matter whether it ends up to the left or the right of the scoreboard? I don't think so.
At least France is showing that they are sending a classy act.
Viva la France! Vive Monseiur Sebastien! Vive Joanathan Cerrada!!!

Sebastian is "the Ark" of esc08. The song is great you know, but it's not something you expect hear in the ESC. The performer might confuse the Europeans, just like Ola Salo did last year. And we must remember that it's France(west) we're talking about.
So even though I think "devine" deserve to end up at least on the left side of the scoreboard, I doubt it will! Once again I think we'll see the Big-4 in bottom...except Spain, wich I think is gonna be one of the candidates to win(unfortunately)!

I don't think anyone will be impressed by a golf buggy these days - sorry !

@Mischa - The PR CD war was really tough indeed....I've heared some horrible stories about it !

I just love it!!

Bonne Chance France!

That is such a silly idea. We don't need a circus - just focus on the song dammit!

Had Divine represented Bosnia & Herzegovina, it could have won. Representing France it will be a miracle if it enters the Top 20.

And K2 International, I hope you are right. He is such an asset to the European music scene, much more so than most others in this year's contest.

yeah, Galandar, I agre Alizee is perfect for Eurovision. I like her too. This year's French entry is strong too, but I'm afraid it's not a Eurovision style and will flop. All the best to France! J'adore Paris ;)

He won't win but hopefully his song will be in the tope 10. It's so innovative and cool, the guy's great!

I was wondering when he'd be rehearsing, I was hoping the big 4 would be rehearsing today :(

Tellier and France winning would be the best for the entire contest. It's contemporary, quality and would bring the contest heaps of good PR

If Belgium would sing in Flemish or this language, there would't be any different, so mo, no gimmick. A song like Russia thios year, Iceskating, a ladder. and a horrible English accent, is that better ????

@Michael UK,

No an imaginary language is not a gimmick my friend...

If France would send Alizee to ESC, then all the votes from me and from my family would go to France :) Alizee i love you!
