PBS have announced that the Maltese people will be able to watch both Semi Finals for the 2008 contest. They will broadcast the Second Semi Final, in which they will participate, and also the first Semi Final, along with the final which Morena will be hoping to qualify for.
Morena will fly to Belgrade on the 13th of May one day before she will begin rehersals for the Second Semi Final, The Maltese singer will fly from Valletta to Belgrade via Frankfurt, Germany.
Malta will be hoping to gain their first victory in the Eurovision Song Contest, with their song Vodka by the singer from the Maltese isle of Gozo, Morena. Malta came so close in 1998, 2002 and 2005, to winning the contest, but narrowly missed out on the trophy.

I feel that morena is a winning esc artist!! however i'll keep my feeat on the ground!!! gl malta..who knows?morena is going to sing and be there!!!
@ Jonny k
now we expect a 12 from the UK this year
Morena revealed her secret agent spies on her blog that are going to dance with her during the performance
@ Danny T : about the fact of the pronounciation. Molitva last year was not in English and nobody understood what she was saying. Still without even knowing the theme of the song, Malta gave it 8 points because the music was catchy. Even Lordi hadn't very good English still they won. Same goes to Ruslana, who speaks extremely crappy English and nobody understood her a sylabble!!
I did not say that gozitans are not good in speaking english! they know how to speak english very well because they are educated just like everyone else. what i said is that sometimes they even speak english with their own dialect. it doesn't mean that because they speak with a dialect, they are ignorant. I never wanted to be understood like that, infact i love their dialect! Sorry Gozitans
didnt mean to hurt you.
Muki Meric,
You are welcome
Hope for you too
I have to see the first semi in another station than my danish - they send it the day after it has been send
So SVT get one more viewer iI gues, or maybe NRK
Girls, girls, girls!!
Listen, we don't want a world war 3 breaking out between the islands of Malta, do we?!!!!
oh dear god - i hope i didn't start an argument between the islands of malta! i do find it hard to understand her though but i think she perform with great vigour and she looks like she is having a great time
daniel muscat, i am maltese, but believe me, gozitans are good in speaking english, sometimes better than maltese..... tkunx injorant !
@ Daniel Muscat
Your comment is an insult to gozitans. Your comment is kind of making gozitans looks stupid sorry to say. I have gozitan friends and they speak better English than other Maltese; I can't comment on the Maltese part as I can't say the difference. Your comment should say that it depends more on the person, not generalising on all gozitans. It depends on how the person is good at picking up languages!!! Some are good at sciences others are good at languages.
YAYYY!!! This is great news as when I emailed OGAE Malta, they told me PBS would only show the 2nd semi final.
Go VODKA! Go MORENA!!! :-)
Besides liking Morena's song this year, I like her very much. She is a lovely girl with a lovely voice.
Wish her the best for the show, and would not mind going for a sunny eurovision next year! This year, I will not go to Serbia unfortunately.
I perfectly agree with Dave Goodman. Malta's song this year is original and catchy. The same thing happened to me. I heard them, and I thought, this is special. I would love to go in the sun anyway. The contest has been "owned" by the same countries now for a long time. I WANT SEA , SUN, and FUN!
Good Luck Morena
Yes Daniel Laus IMO (and not in my dreams as you prefer) Malta will end up in bottom 3 of the second semi. I don't have smth against Malta it is only my prediction, get it???????
Malta is not my favorite this year but I think it will qualify to final!
Wish all countries GOOD LUCK cause its only 10 days to go for the first semifinal
YEAHHHHHH!!!!!!
Phew... both semis! Thanks PBS!!!
- Daniel Muscat
Thanks!! I have wondered why her pronunciation wasn't that great, because normally the maltese are the best at english!! Well, I suppose it is one of your national languages!!
Good luck this year!
i think that you don't know all the story behind her pronunciation. She is from Gozo, and the gozitan dialect is very different from Maltese, and so it is already a great effort for her to speak normal maltese, let alone sing a fast song with normal english. believe me, but gozitans tend to have their own dialect in english as well
I don't think Malta will be the winner this year, but I wouldn't be surprised if it made top 10. However, I think a lot of this will come down to her singing on the night because I find it difficult to understand her during the verses. Viewers never treat bad vocal performances that kindly when it comes to voting and I think this could hurt her
@Arabic scents
In your dreams we'll end bottom 3 unless you mean top 3!!!
Malta have come second 3 times without any neighbours - albeit with ballads - so I dont think that it's impossible for a good song to win or do very well just because it comes from a country without close ties with others.
When I heard all 43 songs in a row it was the one that stood out the most as being original and memorable. I was right about Latvia and Estonia when I heard them in similar circumstances....I hope Im right this year - I have money on Morena!
I really doubt for Malta. IMO ''Vodka'' is an average song and on the other hand someone has to bear in mind that Malta is lacking of neighbours..................so I see bottom 3.
Go Morena! ur d best!!!
So I'm able to see Terasbetoni on the 20th of May! ;-)
Morena is revealing her VODKA-tastic outfit bit-by-bit on her blog!!!

Morena you're simply the best!!
OOOOLLLLLEEEEEYYYYYY!!!!
I really love this song! Best entry this year from Malta!! Pitty I can't vote in the 2nd semi final! I believe Morena and Malta would be outstanding this year!! All the best of luck from Belgium!!! I would go to Malta for sure if they win and they really deserve it!!!
