I agree, Fabio, the competition is fierce, even for a former winner of the contest. However, I don't see what difference her name would make. It's about the song and the performance on the night, and I must say I have some confidence in those two factors. Whether you like the woman or not: her act is good and I think she's a serious contender....as are quite a few other entries like Portugal, Serbia, Hungary, Ukraine, Armenia :)

Zingo, I think the competition will be very hard for her to qualify. Being a former ESC-winner won't make any difference, as the general public is not even aware of that. In addition, she changed her name! It was not very wise from her, imo.

(cos the url codes don't work, you'll need to copy and paste the right bits into the browser. I that link doesn't work, go to - amazon.co.uk, search for "eurovision 2008" and the official cd comes up in the results, click on that and you will get an image!) :D

Hope this is useful!!! :)

I always try and be nice to people on this site, whoever they are, but everybody has to let off some steam sometimes! Now the fact is that some of my comments may have been out of order, I admit that, but I also think that the situation escalted too far. What started off as an in-offensive joke got out of hand, and yes that was partly my fault. I still support Charlotte fully this year and she is my joint favourite. Also because me and musical comedy have had arguements before, we really got at each others throats and yes, perhaps a little too badly! I wish Charlotte and every single artist all the best of luck this year, regardless of my opinion of their song, performance or country. And sorry if I offended anyone, apologies, :(
And to Charlotte Perelli (if you actually read this!), you don't actually look at all bad, in fact very good, and i'm sure that most of europe would probably agree with that! :)

Yes, the Ark were amazing and deserved more points!

@ ANOMC:

You should consider too it's virtually the SAME PEOPLE voting in every online poll available, hence the same results. In addition, it's possible to vote for your own country. Polls don't reflect the reality of the things in any way. Sorry, dear, you can quote 200 polls if you want, but it does not prove anything.

Side note: Charlotte Nilsson/Perrelli was never a first-line 'star', not even in Sweden. She's not that famous...

Jonny K:
I hope you're right about Charlotte not reading these comments. I know that Swedish artists visit this site. When I read your posts below I wonder what's got into you. You were always so kind. When "ProjectZero00" praised you the other day for being nice to people I couldn't agree more. Please, don't disappoint me. I have a great sense of humour but I don't find rude comments about people's looks at all amusing. And, this is a song contest.

Thank you for voting for The Ark, Sweden's best entry ever if you ask me :)

LOL, if you like the song so much then the least you could do is get the lyrics right!!
Its "out of the light, like a star like a hero", not out on the line!

There is the official lyrics!

LOL, how stupid!!! :) :P

In my honest opinion I still do not think this will do as well as many are predicting. As Jonny K says, eurovision site polls are all well and good but when you consider the actual cross section of people who are voting and leave out the effects of diaspora and neighbour it really has little reflection on the results that will come through.

I don't think it will come bottom of the pile either and it should qualify but it really is just a very generic song that could possibly make top 10 - not a potential winner.

If you never respond to us "attention seeking children", then why do you keep on argueing with us!! :)

And no one actually called Charlotte a slag, she was called many things but a slag was not one of them

And you are just as inmature as us, as you keep on argueing with us, if you were so mature and above us, then why do you keep on argueing with us, surely we are way below you!!

And just one more thing . . . . .
PLEASE, THIS IS A PLEA FROM ME, GET A SENSE OF HUMOUR!!! :D

As I've already said I want Charlotte to do well, but virtually every poll shows Charlotte leading and well, the polls mean very little. The polls are mostly filled in by esc-fans who generally like schlager music alot anyway, and the polls don't take into account neighbourly and dispora voting. Don't forget it will be the whole of europe voting in May, not just esc-fans. I think you're just trying to convince yourself now rather than other people. :)

@ a night,

My friend, I think a lot is jalousy. Hero is a very cleverentry, not the best one. Charlotte is a very very good performer. So a lot of countries will be jalous on that. But for me it's still not a winner, it's a good eurovision song but not the winner. What I said before, Sweden being just after Iceland and before Turkey and Ukraine...is not good for you guys. Ukraine's entry is same kind of entry as you guys and Ani is just as good as Charlotte. If there are 10 songs suppose to go through, I can not see the first 4 g through and what about the others ? So you have to take everything with a pinch of salt, ok. I met so many nice Swedes friday evening at the party, you guys are so nice, and if one country deserves again to win...it's you BUT not with this song. Winners for me where Den Vilda, Se pa me, Karleken... etc..

Oh please!! You take everything soooo seriously, we're just having a harmless joke and you can't seem to have a laugh. Its not as if Charlotte is actually gonna read our comments and I'm actually supporting her this year, I would love to see her win.

PLEASE, Lighten up a little!!! :)

The whole song is a little bit of lots of differents other songs. I can fe clairy hear parts of a Boney M song, Daddy Cool in it aswell. But he better well stolen, than horrible original.

Very over-rated entry!

I definitely think she has a chance to win!

...but so does many other countries this year. I surely think that Charlotte Perrelli with Hero is amongst the top10, if not even top5! And since I am Swedish I hope she will win!

And to all you who keep attacking the way she looks, please grow up. I find that so extremely childish, pathetic and rude. People look the way they do, and this is Eurovision Song Contest, NOT Miss Europe.

I also have to add that Sweden's entries does not always sound the same. One comment I keep hearing every year is that 'oh, another ABBA song', so which ABBA song does this sound like? Which other Swedish entry does it sound like? It might be the same genre of music, up-tempo/disco/schlager/pop-rock or whatever but the songs themselves does not sound the same...(apart from Take me to your Heaven, that WAS like hearing ABBA again).

Finn P:
It's true that Sweden often sends uptempo or schlager songs. However, I can't hear the similarity between "Hero" and our entries of 2007, 2005, 1998, 1996, 1988, 1977, 1965, 1963, 1958 (to pick a few from each decade). All these songs are different styles.

12 points for hype, 0 points for actual song. Does Sweden not realise that it's *still* sending the same song every bloody year?!

@ TK: hi man, im still liking Australia, just had a short stint in the outback away from computers ;). Ill get to sydney thurs next week.. cant wait ! :D greetz from rainy adelaide... and btw bless SBS for broadcasting EVERYTHING!
