Biography
The group One, representing Cyprus at the 2002 Eurovision Songcontest, was formed in 1999. The founder of the group is George Theophanous, who himself writes the music and lyrics of the songs. The group members are Constantinos Christoforou, Dimitris Koutsavlakis, Filippos Constantinos, Argyris Nastopoulos and Panos Tserpes.
One game together in 1999 and became popular in Greece and Cyprus. The idea for the group originally came from George Theophanous. The group´s first CD, "One" reached gold in Greece and platinum in Cyprus. Their maxi-single called "2001-ONE", made platinum while their second CD "Moro mou" is still selling a massive number of copies each week.
Constantinos Christoforou was born in Limassol, Cyprus in 1977. He is born to sing. He was the first Cypriot singer who achieved a gold CD in his country at the age of 17. He represented Cyprus in ESC 1996. He likes surfing on the net and working out in his gym.
Filippos Constantinos was born in Nicosia, Cyprus in 1977. He was born to be an artist and he started performing from childhood. He followed his dream of becoming an actor when he joined a drama school in Athens. He was short llisted for the audition for the famous boy band 5IVE. He was a backingvocalist in the Cyprus entry in the ESC 1995.
Panos Tserpes was born in Athens in 1980. He was a boxing athlete. One is his first actual participation in pop music. He likes motorbikes and computers.
Argyris Nastopoulos was born in Germany in 1979 but he grew up in Athens. He always liked to be on stage and used to work as a magician when he was a teenager.
Dimitris Koutsavlakis was born in Athens in 1977. When he was a teenager he used to study opera and afterwards he used to work as a male model. In 1997 he represented Greece at Manhunt international male beauty contest held in Singapore. Dimitris has lived in Hamburg and Milan where he worked as a fashion model for Giorgio Armani and Gianfranco Ferre.
One will be joined on stage by one female backingsinger with a Eurovision-history. Christina Argyri, who was part of the duo Voice that represented Cyprus in 2000, will be on stage backing the boyband.
George Theophanous was born in Larnaca, Cyprus 1968. He studied from his early age at the national conservatory of Greece: guitar, piano and music theory. He continued his studies at Berkeley College of Music on Boston, USA, majoring in arranging. He has been awarded several times as a songwriter/producer both in Greece and Cyprus. In 1990 he settled in Athens, Greece, where he began his career in the Greek music industry. At present he is considered one of the leading composers and music producers in Greece, having sold more, than one million CD and written more than 400 songs for some of the most successful singers in Greece. He is well known among ESC fans as he was composer of the Cyprus entries in 1992 (Malmo, Sweden) and 1994 (Dublin, Ireland) and conductor of orchestra in 1993 and 1995. This year CyBC approached him to write and produce the Cyprus entry in Tallinn, Estonia.
