Biography
Manuel Ortega was born on the 8th of April in Linz. He inherited his zest for life, his vivacity and his name from his mother who originates from Seville. At the age of 10 he became a member of the "Florianer Sängerknaben", one of the oldest boy choirs in Austria.
Nevertheless his love for pop music was stronger and brought him back to Linz where he joined a pop group named "Sbaff".Together with them he collected his first experiences on the stage and at festivals. Between 13 and 15 he had sung about 200 concerts with different bands at home and abroad. At the age of 17 he participated in one of the biggest castings for boy groups in Austria. He was chosen out of 1.300 contestants by a prominent jury as lead singer of the group "Whatz Up".
For the last year Manuel Ortega has gone solo and with his single "El amor, la vida" was one of the most frequently heard titles in Austria during the summer of 2001. On the 1st of March 2002 Manuel Ortega won the Austrian qualifying contest for the Eurovision Songcontest 2002 in Tallinn with his song "Say a word". Shortly his first solo album "Any kind of love" will appear.
