Biography
It took five semifinals to reach the finals and be selected as the artist to represent Portugal in the Eurovision Song Contest. The Portuguese viewers picked the song "Só sei ser feliz assim".
MTM is the name of the duo that will sing the Portuguese song and the letters stand for Marco, Tony and Music, the three main elements in the group. Marco Quelhas and Tony Jackson are old friends who share a common passion for soul music. On various occasions, they have successfully performed together and this gave them the idea to write "Só sei ser feliz assim" and send it into the Portuguese Song Contest.
One half of MTM, Marco Quelhas wrote and composed "Só sei ser feliz assim". Even thought he started his career as a church choir singer, jazz, soul and R & B quickly won his heart. After living abroad for 15 years, he returned to Portugal in 1989, where he has been a frequent guest on a series of TV shows. That he can write winning songs is something he has already proven in 1993, he wrote the Portuguese entry to the Eurovision Song Contest.
The other half of MTM, Tony Jackson, was born in Angola, but now lives in Portugal, where he is studying medicine and performing at casinos and on TV shows on the side. He has performed with several international names including the American soul legend Percy Sledge.
