Biography
Sixteen made their debut last year with a successful single which quickly climbed the Polish charts. It was followed by the group’s first album. This year they were awarded Playbox ’97, a prize for the best radio debut. Their latest hit, Obudz We Mnie Wenus (Wake Up Venus in Me) was in the country’s Top Ten. The group has fan clubs around the country.
Olga Pruszkowska (lyrics) has been fascinated with poetry and music since she was a child. She learned to play violin at the State School of Music. Today she devotes her time to writing poetry and lyrics for famous Polish singers and producing poetry and tales in verse for children. She also works with her husband, Jaroslaw Pruszkowski.
Jaroslaw Pruszkowski (composer) founded the group Sixteen and produced their first record, with the majority of the songs composed and arranged by himself. He started composing songs as an 11 year-old and later took a job in a recording studio as a sound producer and arranger.
Wieslaw Pieregorólka was a member of several jazz bands as a teenager, playing piano and clarinet. Later, he set up the Pieregorólka Big Band. The cream of Polish jazz musicians have performed with the band over the years and it has also played in many European jazz festivals. Today he is a well-known composer and music arranger and last year was nominated for a Fryderyk award for "music arranger of the year". [Notes from the Official 1998 Programme by the BBC]
