Biography
Regina is the stage name of Irena Kogoj. She was born in Murska Sobota. Both of her parents are musicians, so it's not surprising that she was part of a children's choir, and became a rock singer in her teenage years, whilst also playing bass guitar and organ. She sang in groups like Sexplosive and TNT but after a while adopted a more acoustic style and sang politically engaged songs. Regina has been singing pop music since 1986 but also studied psychology at the University of Ljubljana, where she met the musician Aleksander Kogoj. Last year they recorded the album "The Religion of Love" - which Aleksander wrote for Regina as a wedding present.
In Slovenia Kogoj is a name frequently associated with the arts, especially music. Aleksander Kogoj does not bring shame on the family name. He was born in Ljubljana in 1965, and music has been an important and ever-present component of his life ever since. As a young guitarist he was first attracted by rock and he performed with many bands, the most well-known being A la Mode.
Kogoj has not only written music for his bands but also for television commercials, trailers and films. He and Regina have worked together since 1987, and recorded several CDs. Kogoj participated for the first time in the Slovenian final of the ESC in 1993, and although the song only came fourth, it won the popularity of the public.
