Biography
For several years Silvi Vrait has been voted the most popular female singer in Estonia. She has sung professionally since 1976 although she also has a degree in philology from Tartu University, and teaches singing at the Tallinn Music Academy. She works in all musical styles, with extensive experience in opera and musicals, and her present favourite is blues. She has toured throughout the Nordic countries, Russia, and eastern and western Europe.
Ivar Must graduated in conducting from Tallinn University, and has been much involved in the Estonian music scene. He has composed many songs both for performance and for advertisements.
Leelo Tungal is one of the best known of Estonian poets, with 8 volumes of poetry and over 20 children's books to her credit. She has collaborated extensively with Estonian composers, writing the libretto for a rock-opera, and describes tonight's song as showing woman as close and mysterious to man as the sea; they are both companions, they help in hard times, although they stay enigmatic.
