Biography

Born Sean Sherrard in Australia as the son of Irish tenor Patrick O'Hagan Johnny Logan and his family returned to Ireland in the 60s. Here he gathered some experience by performing with several bands and in musicals like Adam & Eve. In 1978 Johnny got his first record contract with Release Records and released Living For Loving as a first single. That made no dent in the Irish charts, but Johnny was allowed to record his first album called In London. When that also didn't chart Johnny was dropped from the label. And so Johnny was the only artist at the Eurovision Song Contest without a contract and without a manager. After winning the contest Release Records took up What's Another Year in Ireland and Johnny got a contract with Epic Records.
