Biography
Os Amigos consisted of Ana Pola, Luisa Basto, Paulo Dacosta, Fernando Picarra, Edmundo Silva and Fernando Tordo. Both Paulo Dacosta and Fernando Tordo were no strangers to the Eurovision stage in 1977. Fernando Tordo participated in the 1973 contest with Tourado. Paulo Dacosta entered the contest under his stage name Paulo de Carvalho the year after with E Depois Do Adeus. Both artists conflicted with the Portuguese regime: Fernando went to jail for a few days because the lyrics of this song were a protest against the Portuguese government. And Paulo's song was the start signal for the 1974 Portuguese revolution. Paulo Dacosta would go on to write the lyrics to the 1993 Portuguese entry A Cicade Até Ser Dia by Anabela.
