Hello!

Nice to look at this site for interesting views etc. And nice to discuss with fellow fans about ESC

I am very much into music in general, which is from where my interest for ESC has developed. i like anything from tender ballads to hard rock. Anything from Enya to System Of a Dawn I like pop, rock, indie, old soul, "viser" (as we call it) most....The reason why I love ESC is first of all music. Of course. Sometimes I think people focus too much on looks, dancing etc. I also like the competitive aspect, the history, collecting value, the way it can bring people (fans) together, the languages, the show itself etc...I am very much into national finals. As those songs are not so well known, I find them more fun to listen to and watch than the international finals. I collect all of it of course!

In ESC, I like most of the songs. But I am not so much into cheesy retro disco, schlagers and pompous euroballads. I like more songs that are original. Rock, rnb, dance, ethno, slow, peaceful ballads (not that dull French styled ballads) etc.

I think 06, 95, 90 and 65 are the best winner ever. The most repulsive ESC-personalities I can think of are DQ and Alf Poier! And Elisabeth Andreassen of course! Most nice? Jahn Teigen, 93, 00 and 07 had the coolest stages ever. The most rude presenter ever must have been Angela Rippon. Most annoying...maybe Gerry Ryan? The best ones were maybe Lill Lindfors, Pat / Michelle (88), Morten / Ingvild (96) and Roman / Caroline (97). The trio in 99 were hysterical...were they drunk? The biggest injustice in the history of ESC was that Finland got 0 points with their great powerful rock song in 1982.

I have always enjoyed watching ESC, and I audiotaped it for keeping it for a while. However, it took me some years to discover it as the "spice of life". I found some old ESC tapes in my grand parents cars. And it was vert fun to hear those old songs again...and then voil�¡a! I became a real fan...started to collect ESC tapes, which I put ads into magazines for. Then I heard abut OGAE, and I started to collect like mad!

Otherwise...I enjoy being with friends, and my girlfriend of course! - , watch movies, travel, watch sports (esp. football / skijumping), internet, read, yoga etc. So yep...several hobbies apart from ESC too. I think we all need diversity in life, whilst at the same time it's nice to have something you can really "dig yourself into" I like to get in touch with people.

And well...it seems like I cant get enbough of ESC. I have many non-ESC friendas, but also many who love ESC. I am a member of two different "groups of friends" who gather occasionally to watch old ESC finals (national or international), vote on them, chat, have fun, eat etc.....Very nice. So ESC is a social hobby in a way, and I'm a quite social person.

I think I should add some opinions of ESC 2009 too! I was of course very delighted that we won And it was not a big surprise, we were the international favourite from the start. But I didn't feel really confident that we would win before a couple of weeks before the final. "Fairytale" was among my favourites this year. Nice to see that song has become such a big hit later on.

Another thing I will remember from the international final, was the impressive stage. So big, so colourful. Never had green looked so green, red so red etc. Esp. during the Portuguese song...magnificent!

But the most important thing then, the music? Well, I think that.....
