My story
Kiz C
Hi! I'm a normal Eurovision fan from Leicester, the UK. The first time I watched the Eurovision was in 2000 when I was 10. I loved the way each country performed their own songs and competed for a prize. Deep down, it made me feel patriotic and competitive, as well as being proud to be a European. It was better then the Euro football tournament that year, as I prefer music to football! I vowed to watch it every year.
However, for a couple of years in 2001 and 2002, I forgot to watch it. (Which was annoying, considering I missed the UK coming 3rd in 2002 with Jessica Garlick.) However, in 2003 in Riga, I started watching it again. I picked the worst year to start watching it again, as we got nul points that year! However, that didn't put me off and I continued to watch it next year. I was pleased to see that we got at least some points in 2004. 2005 was a bit disapointing, as we came third from last. I was disappointed with our 2006 entry-Daz Sampson was crap! However, I loved Lordi and Lt United.
To date, I've watched every Eurovision since 2003 and I love it! It's one of, if not my favourite nights of the year, and I see it as just as important as the world cup or an election! A lot of my fellow countrymen laugh at this, as over here in the UK, the Eurovision is seen as a joke and that there's a lot of 'neighbourly voting'. However, I dont care-everyone should be entitled to their own opinion. It's great fun watching it and I take it very seriously. If my favourite acts do well, I get happy and vice versa if they do bad. Sometimes in the past, I've actualy drawn up a list of my fave acts and given them 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,10 and 12 points, like on the show. One year, I'd love to represent the UK in the ESC. It'd be a dream come true, to represent my country at the worlds greatest song contest!
Well, that about everything to say about my opinions of the Eurovision. Keep it coming!
