| Eurovision Song Contest News - 2009 Moscow, Russia 

Daa Da

I'm "Daa" from Finland. I've been watching Eurovision forever (well, since the early 90s when I was old enough to understand what a TV is), but I quess the breakingpoint for my Eurovision crazyness was in between years 1999-2000 when I made my first recordigs of the show. I think the israeli sun must be the cutest thing on ESC-stage ever. And the opening of the contest in 2000 was the most breathtaking one. Well ok, Helsinki was the most breathtaking one cause I was priviledged to be at the arena and experience it live in my homecountry. The shows are great these days, but all in all the 70s were the golden time of Eurovision.

I'm not sure if I should have put Finland in my TOP10 countries. I do not think we are a bad ESC country at all. We have had a great variety of songs, and the different genres of music in the Finnish selections these days are something to be proud of, I think. Too many good songs have left to be sent tho, so I think our history could have been a lot greater. My favorite finnish entries are Tule luo, Muistojeni laulu, Sata salamaa, Never the end, Hengaillaan, and the fabulous LA DOLCE VITA!

Few words about my favorite countries then...

FRANCE:
1969 Frida Boccara's Un Jour, Un Enfant.......not the only great ballad from France, but the best one!

UK:
1988 Scott Fitzgerald........what a breathtaking performance with great feeling. Beautiful song.
And all the numerous classics of course.

ICELAND:
Already the songs from the 2007 national final can rise this one to my top 10 countries. Love their cute language, their men (Jónsi, Eiríkur, Fridrik...) and pretty good songs all the way from Gleidibankinn.

TURKEY:
I'm not a fan of all the turkish songs, not even the winning one that much, but I like the fact that they deliver something different each year, and it's usually either a quality pop song or just a sympathic performance in some other special way. And 2008 Mor ve Ötesi is the highlight of this all. It is simply THE BEST!

ITALY:
The classics. Era & Si being my favorites.

ARMENIA:
Not a long history, but a very good one, and a very promising future.

SPAIN:
Eres tu, Para llenarme de ti and Dime are my favorites. ChikiChiki is shameful tho

BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA:
Gotta love the balcan ballads. Call me & In the disco were something else tho...

IRELAND:
Gotta love the irish ballads. When, What's another year, In your eyes, Rock'n'roll kids....

SLOVENIA:
Slovenia has send quality stuff almost every year in the 21st century. I did not like Platin nor that Nananana song too much, but Omar, Alenka and Nusa were great, Anjez and Sestre being my favorites.
