My story

Gold Fish

...sailing through my story,sharing my history...

It's really hard to write your own story.I'm from Bulgaria - the small coloured spot when you look at the map of Eastern Europe.I'm sixteen years old,almost seventeen.There are three things I really love:
* chocolate 'Milka' with strawberries and yoghurt;
* a girl,called Helena;
* Eurovision.

I can tell you more about this chocolate 'Milka'-about where the original recepee comes from,about how red were the strawberries when being gathered,about what was the colour of the skin of the cow,whose milk was used for the chocolate...for hours...or days...
About Helena...oh,it will take 3 or 4 years...non-stop talking...about her beautiful brown eyes and amazing hazelnut hair...about her character...about feeling true love...and about feeling she does not feel the same way i do...
But I will tell you what I think about Eurovision.I'd not heard many things about it until 2005.I'd known it was just a big song contest.But,as you know,Bulgaria debuted in 2005 and...well,I think I am the biggest fan of the contest here.I knew all the songs when finally 10th and 12th May came...

Actually,I lived for the contest for 2 months,reading all the news connected with the contest,hearing all the songs thousands and thousands of times,talking and thinking almostly all the time about Eurovision...so you can call me 'the euroman' - the real maniac :)

In 2005 ... I could hardly remember anything apart from Kaffe - our representatives,with the lovely ballad 'Lorraine'.In fact,they ended 19th in the Semis which was really disappointing.There were some lovely songs,as well,and they were at the top - 'My Number One', 'Angel' and 'Let Me Try'.
This was the first year I watched the contest and I was so excited...I voted,of course,for Lithuania - one of the favourites for winning...and...they ended last - the reason not to vote in 2006.

And in 2006...Mariana came and bewitched Europe...ok,you're right,she wasn't able to.She ended 17th in the Semis and LET ME CRY, because i was convinced Bulgaria deserved to go through.But we didn't.
I was so convinced that I was interested in the songs and learnt lots of them...my favourites were:
* Bosnia&Herzegovina - LEJLA -> by Hari Mata Hari (3rd)
* Greece - EVERYTHING -> by Anna Vissi (9th)
* Sweden - INVINCIBLE -> by Carola (5th)
* Turkey - SUPERSTAR -> by Sibel Tuzun (11th)
* Ukraine - SHOW ME YOUR LOVE -> by Tina Karol (8th)
* Estonia - THROGH MY WINDOW -> by Sandra Oxenryd (18th in Semis)
------- but I also liked --------
* Croatia - MOJA STIKLA -> by Severina (13th)
* Romania - TORNERO -> by Mihai Trairastariu (4th)
* Macedonia - NINANAJNA -> Beyonc....oops! by Elena Risteska (12th)

And then it comes 2007...THE YEAR... :)
And the song WATER which ended 5th and made me feel like flying in the sky... :)
And this is the year with the most favourites...just like:
* Georgia - VISIONARY DREAM -> by Sopho (12th)
* Bosnia&Herzegovina - RIJEKA BEZ IMENA -> by Maria Sestic (11th)
* Slovenia - CVET Z JUGA -> by Alenka Gotar (15th)
* Moldova - FIGHT -> by Natalia Barbu (10th)
* Ukraine - DANCING LASHA TUMBAI -> by Verka Serduchka (2nd)
------- but there are a few more -------
* Portugal - DANCA COMIGO -> by Sabrina (11th in Semis)
* Macedonia - MOJOT SVET -> by Karolina Goceva (14th)
* Hungary - UNSUBSTANTIAL BLUES -> by Magdi Rusza (9th)
* Cyprus - COMME CI,COMME CA -> by Evridiki (15th in Semis)
* Greece - YASSOU,MARIA -> by Sarbel (7th)
* Russia - SONG #1 -> by Serebro (3rd)
* Sweden - THE WORRYING KIND -> by The Ark (18th)
* The Netherlands - ON TOP OF THE WORLD -> by Edsilia (21st in Semis)

And...here come the 2008 finalists!What I'd like to see ranking high is:
* Slovenia - VRAG NAJ VZAME -> by Rebeka Dremelj
I know she's one of the most beautiful chicks all over the world, but ...wow!She can sing!That's amazing ;D In fact, I fell for her (the song) after the first listening.It's a kind LOVE FROM FIRST HEAR.I'll keep my fingers crossed for being not misjudged like Alenka's stunning performance last May.After all, the new version is amazing and it'll be a real sin if it doesn't break Slovenia's record of no.7
After the final:Well, it's true - Rebeka couldn't manade to made it.She was far from perfect - I do think her show was not the best of all and the vocals...she was shouting at times!But the song deserved to pass.Sorry, Europe, you disappointed me ones more. 11 in SEMI1

*Hungary - CANDLELIGHT -> by Csezy
Okay, I'll confess...i made a mistake and heared first Nem kel neked mas, thinking that this is the Csezy's winner.I liked it, but could hard get my ear used to Szivveres later.But I gave it one more chance with the new version...and this is OUR story...how we took to each other! :D
After the final:I find it hard to explain the poor result of Hungary.She was...breath-taking.The shining stage, the marvelous performance.Definitely one of the best ballads this year.And no failure while in front of the audience.Unfortunately,she was last. :( 19 in SEMI2

*Ukraine - SHADY LADY -> by Ani Lorak
Oh,Ani...You're awesome!It's some kinda strage that there are so perfect girls this year, singing a range of PERFECT ENTRIES.You must be a top 3.MUST!
After the final:Wow!Ani!WOW!Nothing to add.She should have won.Damn this Russian fool! 2nd in the FINAL

*Serbia - ORO -> by Jelena Tomasevic
The only reason to rank this lower than the other 3 girls is that Serbia won the contest the last time they had the chance so I do not want see them taking the gold once again!Which is a shame, really, because Oro deserves it.Especially the instrumental mix I heard for the first time yesterday.
After the final:One of the most powerful performances of the night.Serbia prooves to be Europe's ballad leader, after all.Congratulations,darlingS!Y ou are the best! :) 6th in the FINAL

*Andorra and Cyprus...Two girls...a blond and a dark-haired lady...Oh...it would be the most beautiful contest ever!Sorry, Maria, but we'd prefer seeing these girls singing again instead of you yourself.These FEMME FATALE-s searching for handsome CASANOVAS ...in our faces.
After the final:Well, Gisela looked like a fay, like a humming bee.I was not convinced it deserved to reach Eurovision heights.But none one really did it.So Gisela should have been the first Andorran representative to be on stage on the FATAL Saturday.Evdokia?Oh...Cyprus,C yprus...the girl that told me she detested the song after the first hearing fell in love with the performance.I did, too.And the song as well.It's sad Croatia, Latvia, Denmark did it instead of her.Really sad. 16th in SEMI 1|||16th in SEMI2

Just to add - Pokusaj by Laka was another great show.The vampire lady from Sweden, Charllotte...she deserved more.Really.Even being against her win, I am sure she was better than the 18th place.Great stage for the blind Diana.
CONCLUSION:This edition will be remembered for its lack of good songs and underestimated music.SHAME, Europe, SHAME!

And last...you see - there are so few songs from the WEST...
=>it's not all about neighbouring and ex- voting.It's all about the songs. ;)

...waiting you to bewitch me with your songs...
...from BG with love...
