My story

Holly Golightly

I have memories of the contest dated back in the 80s. The first contest I strongly remember was that of 1983, with Ofra Haza and that blonde girl from Luxembourg winning the trophy. Since then I became a fanatic. From that spring and for every spring, until I found out how to record on VHS tape, I was obsessed with listening and listening and listening my eurovision radio tape. My tape collection has been my 'best music friend' in my school summer holidays for many years.

Sometimes with family, sometimes with friends, sometimes alone,I always enjoyed watching the contest on TV. Having said that, I knew almost every single information on the contest, making other people around wonder with me. Eurovision travelled me in Europe every year in a different place ( with the exception of 88,93,94,95 and 97 where I travelled...almost in the same city). As an islander, isolated in the very very east of mediterranean sea it was a great opportunity to 'see' Europe.It also made me sing in strange european languages even if I couldnt understand a single word.

In my fourth dacade of my life and still in front of my laptop...watching ESC. Some things never change -)

I have no big, small, bad or good moments but I still love that French entry back in 1991...I also remember the contest in 2001. As a student in Greece I strongly supported Antique along M. and H...and the feelings after the contest. Sad that Helena didnt make it and happy that finally, people around me/us would start again thinking Eurovision!
