Hi there!

I first saw the contest in 1996 at my granny's house. I enjoyed it, but I wasn't what you could call a fan...

...I watched every year after that, making fun of the bad songs and rooting for the good songs, but I never picked up the phone and actually voted for anyone. In 2001, I watched the contest at home for the first time.

Finally, in 2004, on the Wednesday night semifinal, I heard the incredible "Wild Dances", by Ruslana. I was hooked! I crossed my fingers that she would make it through, although I was sure she would. The outfits, the beat, even the singing worked so well that I had to find out more about her and, if possible, hear her song again!

On the Saturday, I waited with great anticipation for Ukraine to start. Again I was transfixed, and this time I voted for it.

Early on, Ukraine was fighting with Serbia and Montenegro and Greece. I convinced myself about halfway through that Serbia and Montenegro would win, and that Europe obviously had no taste. I was so angry to learn that the UK had only given the song 5 points!

When it became clear that Ruslana had won, I was ecstatic! That was when I became a fan.

Since then, I have heard all the songs since 1996 (the year I first watched the contest), and most of the others thanks to http://www.escradio.(...)om/player/button.gif
