My story
Finn P
Promises to be a good one this year! I have quite a few favourites among the songs..
-----SONGS I LIKE A LOT-------------------------
Fun fun fun.
SERBIA........Marku Konu i Milanu Nikoliu ¾elimo svu sreu i dobar rezultat u Moskvi!
More fun, though I prefer Norway. But all the same, its funny and might catch on if people understand what it's about..
Once again I like the German song! Very original and it deserves to do well, if only to compensate for the injustice done to Roger Cicero in 2007!
LITHUANIA.....Mes linkime Lietuvai ir Sasha Son sekmes ir gero rezultato Maskvoje!
Really a very good song. I hope it gets very far cos they deserve it. Modern song, not cheesy and class artist who can clearly sing really well.
.....UPDATE! I heard ICELAND for the first time this semifinal, I was very impressed! A most deserved qualifier.
------MY TOP FOUR (IN RANDOM ORDER)-----------------------
SWITZERLAND........
I was very surprised when I first heard this song not too long ago, but it's brilliant! This is the kind of song the ESC needs a LOT more of, it could do really well in the charts despite its Eurovision presence. Just a very good quality rock group with a good, modern no-nonsense song, and you can judge that by the fact it does not lose its appeal at all when seen outside a ESC stage - this is proper music. They deserve their place in the final and a top 5 for my part. If their live performance is as good I seriously can't wait to see them play Moscow.
.................UPDATE! Okay so they didnt make it, they still rocked though! I think noone can doubt this was quality at work!
Wow! I always liked Portuguese traditional music and though I liked their song last year it was just a bit too over the top for me. But Flor de Lis has it just right for me - they're just a fun group that are not out to impress with a show but just like to make music. I wish them all the best, I think their song is fresh, original and so incredibly Mediterranean you practically feel you're in Portugal when watching it. It is fantastic.
ESTONIA.............Me soovime Eestile ja Urban Symphony'le palju edu ning head önnestumist Moskvas!
Just brilliant.
What can I say, when I heard Patricia Kaas, without a doubt the biggest star in this contest and the last ten probably, I was mildly excited but sometimes even established artists just have a meaningless song. Not this one. The video of her performance is I think amazing - she just captues you and the song is very cleverly constructed and full of drama. Even the lyrics are practical poetry, and not just because I love the French language. This is a winner. Then again, she always was.
My opinions of 2008.....
BELGIUM - you've got to love them! all Eurovision songs should be like this
NETHERLANDS - Yes, I'm biased, but who cares, Hind is pure quality and now we have a good starting position And a proper song, if this doesnt work... (OK, so it didn't...)
PORTUGAL
ALBANIA
NORWAY - The only song in the top five I liked. Good singer, good song, no nonsense on stage like ice skaters, mad violinists or virtual flower arrangements. Loved it.
BULGARIA Bulgaria likes cool music
FINLAND - Its official, the country rocks (and not just because of my name
)! Please go on like this, Finns, it's obviously whatyou do best!
I'll be boycotting the awful songs from Estonia, Russia and Sweden though. *Shiver*
-----
"Sailing through my story............Sharing my history .." - I thought Finland's ESC in 2007 was the best ever.. Much more than 2005 and 2006 the final was filled with great songs and all that failed in the semi were mostly crap songs. My favs:
GEORGIA - Sopho Khalvashi (Visionary Dream) - Oh Georgia, oh georgia, thank you for giving this to Eurovision. It will be long before something this unique participates again...
HUNGARY -Magdi Rºzsa (Unsubstantial blues)
BULGARIA - Elitsa & Stoyan (Water) - super song, and now theyre even making a stand for the environment! Great people, great music... Rock on!
Other favorites from over the years include:
2006: Bosnia & Hercegovina * Hari Mata Hari * Lejla
Spain * Las ketchup * Bloody mary
2005: Hungary * NOX * Forogj vil¡g
2004 Estonia * Neiokµsµ * Tii
2003 Belgium * Urban Trad * Sanomi
2001 Netherlands * Michelle * Out on my own
