My story

Rougemont D'Castile

Who is Rougemont D'Castile? I'm a qualified mad count from the sleepy rural town of Castella de Santiago. Not that I've ever stepped foot in the place you understand, but my castle unfortunately looks down on the town, and I've never managed to persuade the local council to clear it away. I live the life of a complete recluse, and only venture out once a year to attend the Eurovision Song Contest.

My interest in the Eurovision was sparked a few decades ago. It was mostly the clothes and the hideous dance routines that appealed, but at that time it wasn't quite the all consuming obsession that I am now victim to. For eleven months of the year I roam the cavernous chambers of my squalid palace, wearing Guildo Horn's cast offs and singing songs in an imaginary language, but in May I emerge and head for the contest.

I may be the worlds biggest misanthrope, but I can't fail but to be charmed by the Eurovsion fans, who are quite delightful. It is wonderful to mingle with the cream of Europe in that heady melting pot of musical mayhem. After so many years of abstinence I'm now on my fifth Eurovision, each year leaving sated but all too soon hungry for more!

Last year's event in Helsinki was thrilling and fabulously expensive. What a wonderful idea to sell bundles of tickets at inflated prices! You get to watch variations of the same show several hundred times! It was all worth it, and prostitution really isn't so bad after all. Verka became my new soul mate but my heart belongs to Angelica Agurbash, and when she has tired of her rich husband she is more than welcome to pay me a visit. I will even run a duster around.
