My story
Lesley Sim
I've been watching Eurovision for a very very very long time. I credit it as one of the things that instilled in me my passion for non-English things at an early age. My favourite entries have always had at least an ethnic twinge in them, which meant that for a long time I was there rooting for either Spain or Turkey (or both) to little effect (we are talking 20th century here). Way back then I found I had an ability to predict Eurovison winners - either from how much my body hairs stood on end, or whichever made me burst into tears. Unfortuneately now there are more countries entering and voting has become more complicated this no longer works, so don't ask me for a betting tip!
My all-time favourite is Hungary's entry from 1994 - Friderika with Kinek Mondjam El Vetkeimet and Serbia & Montenegro's entry from 2004 - Lane Moje is a close second, which is odd because I usually prefer more upbeat numbers eg Moldova from 2005.
Since going to the final in Istanbul, it is my intention to attend as may as I can. Didn't make it to Kiev partly because the start of sale of tickets coincided with a very special holiday to Bhutan. But I will be there in Athens - can't wait!
The countries I will be rooting for are Armenia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria & Poland.
